There's your problem right there. Because people are living longer and better than previous generations they aren't dying and downsizing. My neiggbor is an empty nester and 73 and he routinely is out in the heat cutting grass, etc.....and in very good shape.

30 years ago, as you were pushing 70-75 you were winding down.....not so much today.

It's putting pressure on X , the millenials and Z because the Baby Boom generation was so large as a cohort...and they are consuming at X levels as a whole still.

I was born in the mid 80s.

People want handouts. They don’t want to have to put that work in and would rather complain about fairness.

Life is not and never will be fair. You can either complain and live in that resentment or get out there, live within your means and grind.

Everyone here already hit one lottery by being born in the United States.

To see people complaining is nothing but ignorance and laziness.

Oh yeah so much luck.

Bought my first house in 2008 during the housing crisis during Obamas term.

I’ve also watched my medical insurance skyrocket over the years so I would call it luck.

If I could do it, anyone could do it. I was an active alcoholic for 15 years. Hell i bought and sold 4 houses during my most active period so to say people can’t do it is bullshite. They don’t want to sacrifice any comfort for glory.

Honestly, tired of the complaining. I know where I’m headed and I feel bad for those who didn’t plan

The rivalry between those two generations is fun to watch from the outside looking in. The irony of it all is, at least to this Gen X guy, is there isn’t a dime’s worth of difference between the two.

Boomers also hated the older generations and blamed them for all their problems. And just like millennials, boomers were viewed by older generations as whiny, lazy, and spoiled who didn’t appreciate anything.

Oh there is, and it’s that Millennials are self aware. You criticize our generation, the response is “Yeah, we know.” We don’t get offended by it.

You question a Boomer and don’t bow to their excellency, they’ll lose their shite. It’s a much more narcissistic generation than the Millennials.

Not many 24 year olds can afford a house no matter the generation. Also, younger generations have no idea about a "starter home" and certainly won't touch a fixer-upper. Where's my Mcmansion? Why can't I get exactly what I want? Damn you boomers!

Throw in the fact that 1 out of 10 males in the 20-24 range have no job and are not in college...basically sitting at mom's doing nothing doesn't help.

And I'm tired of the pompous "pull up your bootstraps and quit buying netflix" bullshite from the 40+ crowd.

The costs of everything have far outpaced wage growth and the people trying to get started right now have it a lot rougher than everybody alive who got their life situation pre-covid.

So now you are attacking boomers, xers, and millennials.

Every single generation has ups and downs. Stop being a pussy.

You are a moron. Enjoy.

You determine this. You don’t have to swipe your card.

Live within your means. Sometimes it’s a couple of years of bullshite and grinding. It’s called life. Grab your sack.

Everybody who owned a home prior to 2019 yet has the nerve to preach down on those who didn't needs to stfu.

I think a lot of the Boomer hate is misplaced. I've seen people blame them for taking us off the gold standard and shite like that, even though they were kids at the time.

I think the reality is that they just happened to be born in a fairly fortunate time to acquire cheap assets relative to today.

2008 read about it. People couldn’t even get a loan. The banks were all getting bailed out. Still, I bought my first home. I’ll say it again, if I can do it all of you can do it. Hard work. If you u don’t want to work hard you will watch the separation of the rich from the middle/lower class.

Not an opinion. Happening in front of your eyes now. You can either accept it and get to work to get there or fall on your sword and be a normal average joe. Nothing wrong with that either.

99% of people are just plain Jane.

Oh look, the 40+ year old giving the bootstrap speech.

I dont need preaching. I'm a bad sonuvabitch. I can do anything and I dont need shite from anybody. I can also freely admit that owning a home with a sub-2.5% mortgage that has nearly doubled in value was a brilliant stroke of luck. Graduating college in a strong economy, luck. I see young and upcoming people who are relentless hustlers. Mediocrity doesn't get rewarded the way it did 20 years ago and they know it. They don't need preaching from anyone either.

Dude you have no clue. We ate at home almost every single meal, barely went on actual vacations outside visiting family in Louisiana and our nicest car was a Green Astro van. Do you want to know why? Wants versus needs and teaching your kids to live in the middle and to never get comfortable as life is a motherfricker.

I’m tired of you 18-30 year olds running your mouths being driven around by mommy to prom in a Land Rover. Those families don’t know it yet, but most of them are fricked, they spent all the money. Now the kids don’t have shite when mom and dad dies because you rode in the money while you grew up. The double entendre.

Yes, ignorance is bliss.

These fricks have no idea how families lived in 80s - early 90s.

People did not flaunt cash like they do now. That said it’s just flaunting. Show me a million in the bank straight cash homie and no debt and we can talk. Other than that, you are normal.
