You'd think for a house that they clearly spent a fortune on they could come up with something a little nicer than concrete blocks.
There's wires laying about and that box on the right isn't even installed to anything.

Palm trees = little to no heating required. I am not impressed.
Well the past two weeks we had temps near 80 and lows near 30.

Unless there have been some miraculous advances in both energy consumption and solar technology, I don't believe this is true...
if it is true, that is a game changer, though...

If that is in Cali then 1 quake will take down the entire battery setup.

Oh no it gets cold only at night? If only there were doors you could shut to keep the warm air in until the next day.

Location? That is one of the biggest factor in having solar panels
Probably on the roof..just kidding..
I have believed for a long time that in The South, especially on The Gulf Coast,a combination of solar panels and small windmills could easily supply all of your electrical needs.

lead-acid, lithium ion, amp hour rating? I doubt you are running an AC unit all night with 8 12V batteries

I think 1 key thing, if you planned on doing something like this, you double up on Insulation, only the best windows, doors, all hot water pipes insulated. You would need to make everything more efficient,it's a bigger investment up front, but going to save money in the long run.
