Ive had good experiences through my local clinc and Danville VA hospital, but frick Hines up in Chicago.

Had a operation set for months, week before operation, they call and leave me a voicemail to say they cancelled it. Mind you, I live 4 hours south of Chicago. Anyways, I call them and they still expected me at my pre-op the next day.

This was a few months ago. Got it figured out and didn't have to deal with Hines. It was so bad, I got approved for VA Choice and got a referral to private care.

I've been using the VA for several things over the past 2 years and I've had very good experiences.

Same here. I use the Hammond outpatient clinic... it's fairly small so that could have something to do with it.

I also use ebenefits and myhealthevet for a lot of things rather than trying to call the VA.

What part of your records are you trying to get? I know you can get your MPF on ebenefits... not sure about medical records though.

Needed a copy of a letter for disability C&P.

You just need the letter verifying your disability rating... or the actual C&P results?

You can get the verification letter on ebenefits. The C&P results MIGHT be on myhealthevet if you have the premium account with blue button.

I refuse to go to the VA hospital in Pineville. It's a guaranteed all day visit.

You ever tried calling ITunes help number? Incredibly long wait times.

Vet here, young enough to not have ever needed a visit.

Serious thought... I have medical insurance through my job and it is at a decent price, after hearing all the bs with the VA, I think I will always just use my work insurance.

The VA has a less than stellar reputation for a reason. With that being said, I am starting to see improvements. The introduction of Ebenefits for example was huge. For no other reasons than it gives you the ability to keep up with wtf they are doing. The clinic in BR is not bad, can get crowded. The main issue, for me is VA policies for the most part are lacking common sense and slow the processes down..

was a long 2 months of waiting - never been to both ends of the emotional spectrum like that.

In the past 10 years I’ve had three different cancers. One of my doctors asked if I’d been exposed to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. Two of the bases where I was stationed used Agent Orange.
The VA has a list of bases and the cancers that they know Agent Orange can cause, two of which I have. One is in remission the other still active. I file a claim to get a disability rating and maybe some benifits. Waited 8 months and they denied everything. Said my military medical records don’t have anything about me having cancer. I didn’t prove that my cancer was was caused by Agent Orange. That was almost 50 years ago.
Filed an appeal and my local VA Office said it could take 2 to 6 years.
Talk about hurry up and wait. Don’t think I have that kind of time.

Might look into that.

I'm stubborn. It takes a lot for me get seen about something, but I finally broke down and made an appointment last year to at least get it on paper. All went pretty smoothly until I saw Dr. Kothapalli. That woman has the bedside manner of Jack Kevorkian. 100% condescending, narcissistic, insufferable bitch. I'm pretty sure she's a fricking Nazi anyway.

I never returned for my follow up or get my x-ray results and don't plan to. I'll go to my general Dr instead and pay for it. I feel bad for the old timers who have it way worse.

There might be a way to do whatever it is your're trying to do online... myhealthevet or ebenefits

This. Was fast and no pain. I did get a card in about two years ago that stated I could use local services. I don't used the VA unless it is for high dollar meds even though I have full insurance. Part "D" don't pay shite. The VA does get some monies from my D plan.
