as far as the CC issue. We all have them and are to never refuse a CC if the driver does then call office right away and your ride is free.
You should tell your cab friends in NOLA this. Half the time I get in a cab, the CC machine "isn't working." Funny how when I say well what do you want to do because I have no cash or ATM card, they suddenly remember how to get it running again

how are personal insurance companies handling UBER?
Grey area from what I have read. Some policies are not violated with ride sharing, some are. Depends on interpretation from what I gathered.

sounds like their drivers aren't telling their insurance company they are using their vehicles as a taxi

I bet if we put your # into the system it will show you owe a $5.00 pay no ride for that day for not answering when we tried to call
You'll never get the five dollars I may owe... called you motherfrickers on New Years...somewhat early. I am told 45 minutes...No cab...Call back five times without an answer. One time "put me on hold" and I finally hung up. So one of my friends drives. Thirty minutes later I get a call looking for me. Too fricking late jack. Almost over an hour late and dispatch can't even answer the phone.
Y'all have pathetic service and are about to get rail roaded by Uber.

Also, parents can quickly setup an Uber account for their children in college. Don't have to talk to anyone, just put their info in an app.
I know a lot of Vanderbilt kids have this. Their parents don't get a monthly invoice or shite like that. They get an alert on their phone when its used, where they went, and how much it cost.

but but but we all need taxis...it is a life or death situation yet 99% of the public rarely if ever uses them?
Regular as in, I call the same guy every weekend and I plan ahead by calling in advance. No one fricking does that besides Topwater Trout.
Uber is cheaper, nicer vehicles, and allows you to get a ride when it was unexpected.

The Pre Trial diversion program is going to go bankrupt.

I had a cop tell me in Nashville, quite shockingly, that cops hate it because it will cut down on DUIs and that might lead to layoffs in a lot of departments that are already on very tight budgets. A lot of department funding comes from MADD and similar organizations lobbying about DUI's, but if DUI rates go down, they lose ammo in that fight.

It's like the guy who makes rape whistles. He went into it with good intentions, but if rape rates go down, then the sale of rape whistles will follow...

That would be a total scumbag move if cops started lobbying against uber for that reason.

dumb, IMO.

A lot of departments aren't fans of legalized pot for the same reason.

Now BRPD will have to do something else other than sit in a parked car in front of Jimmy Johns or creep around the neighborhood behind Ivars.

They will claim its to prevent drivers driving people around town without* a special license. But in reality, it cuts down on cars on the road, they are certified drivers by Uber's background and driving record check, and it will cut down on drunk drivers.

My family all lives within 10 blocks of the overpass. I have been stopped WALKING home 3 times from those bars. Never arrested or cited, but come the frick on. Don't you have something more important going on than a 26 year old kid in a collared shirt walking home in the Garden District/Southdowns?

Yeah, the people who drink and drive generally do so because the alternatives are expensive and/or inconvenient. Most people think, well I could wait an hour for a taxi that might show up, or I can get in my own car and risk the 1% chance of getting caught

On a side note, am I able to see my rating as a rider on my profile? Not sure I'm just not seeing mine or only the driver can see it.

I told you why people will care and benefits to the city.
What do you consider to be "that big of an effect"?
Seattle saw DUI's decrease by 10%, and they already had a much better taxi option than BR has.
There is really no way to get from tigerland to downtown after a few drinks without Uber or driving drunk.
