Absorb the moisture

A bank of 50 C-130's dropping 1 mill tons of flour or lime to knock out the moisture

Good idea, but it just isn't practical. What needs to be done is to mine a huge amount of dry ice and then tow it out to the middle of the Gulf. A one or two degree drop in water temp would be huge.

During each hurricane season, there always appear suggestions that one should simply use nuclear weapons to try and destroy the storms. Apart from the fact that this might not even alter the storm, this approach neglects the problem that the released radioactive fallout would fairly quickly move with the tradewinds to affect land areas and cause devastating environmental problems. Needless to say, this is not a good idea. Now for a more rigorous scientific explanation of why this would not be an effective hurricane modification technique.

These are the same pussies who say that global warming want a thing, frick them. Can't even know if it was gonna rain tomorrow or not, frick them. Build a giant landmass off the coast of Africa. Hurricanes hate land. It could be a new continent.

I have noticed quite a few downvotes in this thread AND I ALSO NOTICE THAT NONE OF YOU CLOWNS HAVE suggested a better idea than mine.

Here's a better idea than yours: Don't detonate nuclear fricking weapons in a hurricane. The largest ever detonated thermonuclear device was 50 megatons. A good-sized hurricane (like the ones you're intending to stop) will carry and unleash something on the order of 10,000+ megatons. The hurricane will laugh off any detonation and then carry the radioactive fallout along with it and drop it all over the place.

Your suggestion is a great idea for a sci-fi channel movie of the week, but an utterly idiotic idea for real life.

A stupid idea can garner downvotes without one downvoter attempting something impossible with todays technology.

"Just" move all the people away from gulf and atlantic including 25 million nyc metro.
No worries when oceans rise.

Nah.

Look at the most powerful 25 hurricanes. The vast majority of them are from decades ago. There is zero credible evidence to suggest that global warming has resulted in stronger or more frequent hurricanes.

A nuclear hurricane sounds much better than a conventional hurricane. What could go wrong?
