The root of this issue is depression

People want so badly to be heard, so badly to stand for a noble cause that just doesn't exist in this country today. They want to feel a part of something bigger than themselves because they don't have any sort of community. They are sad, they are misguided, and most of all they are lonely. The worst part is they don't understand why. Just forgetting about the nuances of right or wrong when it comes to these monuments, it's nothing more than a group of people looking for something to get their hit of dopamine.
This has nothing to do with police brutality. As a disclaimer, of course I want police reform. Ever since I saw the Daniel Shaver video I've said that there needs to be a safeguard in the system to make sure that piece of shite cop never holds a gun to begin with. But the dismantling of the Columbus statues is such a misguided cry for help.
These people are spoiled. They don't know hardship and they are worse off for it. This is the greatest time in human history to be alive, and some people can't be satisfied. It's all internal, and many of them will realize after this is done that they are still the same broken people. The sadder part is that some of them won't realize, and will keep lashing out in destructive ways.
The crisis in this country is one of mental illness. And it's very serious.

Everyone wants to believe they are important, that they are a part of something bigger than themselves. People used to get that fulfillment through church and nuclear families. That’s why both of those institutions have been systematically destroyed, creating 2 generations of listless, aimless, lost, and depressed misfits screaming for purpose, yearning for truth, and completely uninvested in the institutions that for so long have supported civilization. They’ll Burn this world down to the wick Just on the promise of a place in the ashes.

As I stare at my phone (again) I agree. The only thing they see is what is on their phones. If it tells them (whatever social media suggests), they do it. Morality, individual thoughts, I don’t know.

All those things fall under erosion of morals to me. I agree. I started typing stuff and should have put an etc. I think the demise of the family and church have more or less led to the consumerism and greed.
Our county only works with moral men living in it.

Consumerism is a symptom of the erosion of morals and institutions. Consumerism is people trying to fill the hole that once was fulfilled by religion and family. There’s nothing wrong with capitalism, but when people begin consuming simply for consumption’s sake, it becomes a snake eating its tail.

They do not seek help, nor do they seek to truly better themselves. So what can you do?
IMO Cities, particularly big ones, are where humans lose their connection to nature, and lose their connection with the miracle and wonder of their very existence. with that loss, they lose their souls.

Idk man I guess I’m getting old, mid 40s, but I find peace is shite that I never thought I would when I was younger.
I like taking pride in lawn care now. Yeah it’s probably stupid and a friend on mine makes fun of me because he knows how much I use to hate it.
We got a new above ground pool. I call it “muh white trash pool” It’s just over 10k gallons and I like to take care of it more than getting into it. It’s a new hobby learning how to adjust chemicals to keep it crystal clear. I’ve learned you can’t just throw a chlorine puck in a floaty thing to maintain it.
My wife planted a vegetable garden. We just pulled off the biggest fricking cucumber I’ve ever seen and some green beans, eggplant, jalapeño and bell pepper.
Simple things in life and things I never dreamed would make me feel better.
