A couple nights ago, my wife and I watched a documentary on the Jonesville Massacre led by Jim Jones. As survivors described his various behaviors/ punishments doled out by Jones or “church” higher-ups in the years leading up to the mass suicide, it made us start talking about hearing of the same behaviors and punishments done by those high up in Scientology.

Some of the things described that Jones did include making members sign over the deeds to their property to “the church”, having other members ridicule someone for supposedly doing something wrong, making others beat other people who tried to leave the cult, paddling kids until they were screaming in the loud speaker so that other kids were scared to ever do wrong, and having people killed for trying to infiltrate what was happening. In various documentaries Ive seen on Scientology, Ive seen or read of the same things going on to those that tried to leave, or go against what those in this cult wanted.

So when it comes down to it, (and Id sincerely hope this never happens) are we going to eventually see history repeat itself but with Scientology? I think we can all agree that Scientology is an extremely powerful cult and it'd be wise to not to get on their bad side as they will make your life a living hell. Thoughts?

If I can’t ridicule other church members for doing something wrong what’s even the point of going to church?

Kool-Aid faced the largest, undeserved example of bad-publicity.However, they earned their bad rap when they killed off Sharkleberry Fin, the GOAT.

The political message of the People's Temple is right in-line with the social justice crowd and modern progressivism.

well, if they ever decide to move everyone to some south american country, it's probably time to quit.

Scientology's power blows the Peoples Temple out of the water. One cult had to flee the country to operate while the other is tax exempt

I recently watched a couple Scientology documentaries on Youtube, and last week I had a Scientology pamphlet in my mailbox.

Not saying it's connected, it very well could have been a coincidence. However, it freaked me out enough to not want to research it anymore.

And it wasn't even Kool-Aid they used for the poisoning.

Id have no problem with the majority of the Scientology higher ups doing away with each other to the point where the entire infrastructure of the cult is no more. But I dont think hundreds of children need to die just bc their shitty parents wanted to be part of a cult.

Well yeah, I agree, I'm mostly referring to the higher ups and their foot soldiers.

The harassment dealt to members who leave the cult is insane.
