You’re doing life wrong but some people are just built to be worker bees

You wouldn't, but that's progress for you. Time to keep moving forward on that. Americans are more productive than ever. Time to bring those working hours down. As I said before, you could lop 10 hours a week off of the majority of the US workforce tomorrow and productivity would likely be unaffected.
In the same vein, since 1979 American productivity has increase 600% versus wages. From 1948 to around 1972 or so, wages and productivity were very closely related. From 1973 to 2018 productivity has skyrocketed while wages have risen marginally.

30-35 were difficult years for me. 4 kids, wife, left active duty, started a “real” job, and all the while I felt like I was a kid playing adult. I was very indecisive on some things because I now had 5 mouths to feed, shelter, etc. I am 35 now and finally getting to a point where I am confident in my decisions as an adult.
You are in normal place and there is some great advice in here. Biggest lessons I have learned is that you can’t plan for everything and you can’t take it with you. Your kid is only young once. Enjoy those precious years and yeah you may have to retire will a little less money but you would have enjoyed your kid.

Whole post sounds kinda whiny to me honestly. If your job is taking that much out of you then you probably don’t have the aptitude for the work.
Try doing all of that and NOT being by family to ever have anyone watch the kids for a date night or so you don’t have to take off of work every time they get sick and get back with me.

Quality post OP
Love threads like these even if they do scare the shite out of me since these issues really don’t get talked about much in the day to day. Makes me realize how much I need to cherish all the free time I have now since like someone else said, life comes at you fast.
I don’t think enough people take the necessary time to really plan for what they want in life. I guess the hardest part of that process is just knowing what you want in the first place. Sounds like you’ll be fine though dude, you’re not 80 for gods sake so if there’s a change you want to make, just say frick it and go make it. You still got a shite load of time in front of you.

Probably where I'm at.
I have my endgame set and we're well on our way to fulfilling that. Problem is I don't really have much planned between now and then
So I got my plan for that. For some reason though "stay the course" doesn't feel like a fleshed out 5/10/15 year plan.

Quit working at home.
It will be there tomorrow.

I would be happy that your one kid is healthy.
A lot of people with kids with autism/other ailments will “work late” for an hour to avoid dealing with the reality of their lives.

Or that he had a child to begin with.
I have plenty of free time for myself...but the trade off is that I likely will now never be a parent.

26 year old pencil pusher for H&R Block, short fat and single, living in an apartment with a roommate.
