Also - Memphis and Oklahoma City have incredibly awesome costs of living:

But then you would have to live in Memphis or OKC

Neither does poverty

This thread reminded me of this

High income improves evaluation of life but not emotional well-being , Daniel Kahneman

Came up during a podcast episode where Shane Parrish interviewed Kahneman about cognitive biases: Putting Your Intuition on Ice, Interview with Daniel Kahneman

I'm trying to figure out what life evaluation means.

Then the world is full of idiots. Plenty of obscenely rich people that are quite unhappy. Kate Spade, a literal billionaire, committed suicide. Plenty of other stories of well off people taking bad roads.

I have a buddy who owns several planes he leases out to very high net worth (think B net worth) people. More of them are unhappy than the average population. It’s crazy how many people flying a G650 to Switzerland for a ski trip are unhappy. It’s definitely not about the Benjamins.

So they’re saying there’s no difference emotionally from $112k and $9 mil a year? Research seems pretty skewed and subjective.

That's my thought as well. Generational wealth and debt can be as big of a factor as income, but generally speaking a family of four making $113k/yr shouldn't be buying a house that costs more than $220k. $280k would be on the upper end of where they could stretch it so long as they are frugal and their kids don't go to private schools.

What house would they buy in NOLA? Where will their kids go to school if they are not accepted into the magnet program?

$113k/yr would be awesome for a single guy, but stressful AF to me.

Until I have millions I will never be financially happy. I probably won't get millions...so I'll never be financially happy

There isn't an amount of money that would make me happy in that city.
