when Lincoln put the abolition of slavery on the table it resulted in one of the worst riots in American history. —-those were anti-draft riots in NYC

You think that’s all that caused the riots?

quote:

The military did not reach the city until the second day of rioting, by which time the mobs had ransacked or destroyed numerous public buildings, two Protestant churches, the homes of various abolitionists or sympathizers, many black homes, and the Colored Orphan Asylum at 44th Street and Fifth Avenue, which was burned to the ground.

The mob chose its targets for a purpose.

Show me where that was the reason they went to war. What documents, speeches, etc can undeniably prove the abolition of slavery was the reason fathers sent their sons to die for.

Keep in mind the North loved the Black people so much several States, including Lincoln's own Illinois prevented Blacks from owning property and working in those Sates. Black Codes/ Black Laws were widely accepted in the North.

Jim Crow laws began in the North long before they became normal in the South.

And these ever so fricking virtuous Whites loved their slaves so much that they didn't free them, they sold them to plantations in the South. Hence the saying, "being sold down the river."

The ferrying of Slaves from Africa to South America and the Caribbean didn't stop when the Atlantic Slave trade was outlawed from bringing slaves to the US. Boston and other major ports still ran those operations because they loved the fricking money.

So spare me your indoctrinated bullshite propaganda.

I could make the case that the South seceded in part due to slavery, 4 of the 11 States mentioned it explicitly. But the war was for different causes.
