Um, no she isn't. People want to harp the stupid comments INDIVIDUALS have here and there, as if it speaks for everyone who lives in BR.

A great article about a town of 94k people who incorporated. The similarities between their incorporation and ours are crazy. The only major difference is they wanted theirs to keep their money local. We want a school district.
The senate president pro temp, Sharon Broome said we had to become a city to get our own school district. And here we are

Parish wide bussing for deseg purposes ended in 2008 when the Justice Dept settled the NAACP suit with the EBR school system.
Bussing now is only for magnet schools and to distribute students to available classroom space. The temp closure of Lee High is still creating issues with available classroom space, especially in the Gardere area. Hopefully Lee High will be fully reopened next school year and that will help take some Gardere students off of Woodlawn, some WHS area students can return from Tara and WHS will be a "neighborhood" school again.
Comments like this make people who are trying to follow the conversation and hear all sides just shake our heads and now I doubt anything you've said.

I agree. I'm willing to pay double my property taxes if it means improvement. And my kids will stay in private schools.

Well, in the last ten years there has been a lot of reinvestment in downtown and it is beginning to close the gap with LSU. And which specific leadership has been sitting on its arse? Not the current mayor.

The very first post in this thread has a link to an article. The article outlined how members of the council tried three chicken shite moves
Stack the St George fire department leadership with brpd people because the current leadership is pro incorporation
Stop anyone from Zachary, Central, or the unincorporated area from working for ebrp or be proper
Lock in the money from the unincorporated area paid to the city budget for ten years to stop incorporation.
This behavior is galvanizing the people of the unincorporated area against the perceived elite.

Idk I'm trying to read up all I can and be informed on both sides. It's confusing bc no one knows what could happen.
Maybe so. But what about areas like the Garden District, Capital Heights, Perkins Overpass area, Southdowns, etc. What if these areas, some of which are the near the borderline of bad areas start to go downhill? Don't know if they would or not. But the last thing I'd want is the swath of urban decay that is North BR to encroach any further than it is. It could catch up eventually.
