So what you are saying is that BR has screwed up time and time again for decades, but this time we got it right......just trust me, and oh by the way keep the money rolling in
Well, with regard to poor planning decisions decades ago, it was part of a broader laissez-fare attitude toward development that plagued traffic in metro areas throughout the country.
And I haven't been around to witness all the screwups throughout the years, so maybe I'll be as cynical as some you are come forty years from now. But I don't see any good in throwing in the towel at this point and not giving a shite about redeveloping and trying to improve BR proper.

HE freely admitted he didn't know how to decipher the EBRO budget; even when given the page number he needed to look at.
The other difference is I am going to learn what it means while you are content to remain blissfully ignorant.
While I'm at it, your entire "economies of scale" diatribe is wrong. The thread I started this past week on the Poli Board compared city budgets in La. Larger cities, on average, collect and spend MORE taxpayers money than smaller cities. And that is true for cities in EBR, too.
Yeah, yeah, I know....link? You obviously don't know how to use the search function on here so, here you go: LINK
Enjoy!

How about now. lets have a link to where I admitted to being a racist?

You also left out Parkview Elementary in the SG area which is an A school. And Parkview is a true "neighborhood" school, not a magnet school.
The same for Shenadoah Elementary, an A rated neighborhood school.
Isn't it wild how neighborhood schools do so well... Maybe they should push for more of that. If only there was a movement, that on the direction of a legislator from the floor of the capital, wanted to do something about this.

You have no idea what you are talking about...
My buddy is a coach at an area middle school and was told, "frick you and your push ups coach!"
Is that acceptable behavior in your book? Would that be considered a bad apple? Is that coming from someone with solid home training? You're an idiot if you think so.
Those aren't isolated incidents, either. He told me about pulling a cell phone from a kid with a video of a young girl being held down and raped! There is a huge disconnect from right and wrong in this area, bro... You need to get from behind your keyboard and mix it up in the real world.
And if you think I don't want my kids being involved with that kind of behavior when they are 13 and younger makes me racist, then you are the idiot!
I stand by what I said... Keep em coming.

BR has had a street improvement frenzy over the past 10-12 years that we have all benefitted from.
Sure, I'd like a loop, too, but Baton Rouge can't build it alone, especially since most of the loop would be located outside of East Baton Rouge Parish.

Walk me through the $2K per year property tax increase form your speculative bullshite, you linked.

No, no bro... I have the jist of the whole thing. You go talk to your buds and try to figure how to spin it.

So you agree the current EBR school system's neighborhood schools are working well, especially in the SG area? Wow! I bet that hurt you to admit.
EBR system schools are not where they need to be or where any of us want them to be, but for anyone to say the school system is getting worse and not admit there has been a vast year over year improvement in the system since the system was released from fed court oversight is just a flat out lie.

My comment was sarcasm. It is good that they are widening surface streets.
Not having the foresight to do one 20 or more years ago is the problem...AP and WBRP have grown making it harder to get the land w/o major obstacles now.

You seriously cannot do the simple math of a $300,000 home's property tax if it increases at a ratio similar to the average of the other two EBR cities average spending and property tax increases which they have had since breaking away from the EBR school system? Did you graduate from Southeastern? In what?
It sure as hell wasn't in math or accounting.

You're wrong.
Every mayor since Tom Ed McHugh was first elected in the 1980's has attempted to bring together all of the stakeholders in the surrounding areas to agree on a loop.
Every time it always broke down to a NIMBY pissing contest. The problem has always been too many politicians wanting it to be their way or the (no pun intended) highway.
Another set of politicians setting up their own kingdom on the east side of EBR will only make it more difficult to accomplish.

I'm speculating, like you, but I think the year over year increase may be suspect

Considering you can't read a budget, you shouldn't throw stones.
What your little data set doesn't show is what are the fire and law enforcement costs for the cities listed. The fact that st George fire and ebrso already cover the area and isn't considered in the budget is huge in this discussion. You forget the parish services we receive already. This is part if that budget you don't know how to read.
The people in this area already kick in to the parish and will continue to do so.
And keep Southeastern out of your whore mouth. My alma matar has nothing to do with this. M

Well we don't have a loop and as time goes by the chances of ever getting one get slimmer.
ETA- chance for a southern loop is almost out of the question...a northern loop would just be stupid. I won't derail this thread anymore though I will let y'all argue over a budget that is probably impossible for anyone to decipher

quote:I don't think it would. There is a waiting list every year of qualified students who don't get into BRMHS.
wont st George destroy brmhs, the city's flagship school?
I know that because for 4 years I was a VIPS assigned to BRMHS in the admissions office. I created an Excel spreadsheet that allowed them to go from computing by hand the GPA's of the 1,000+ students applying to BRMHS every year to doing the computation on a PC simply by entering the grades of the student's academic classes and putting an X in a box if the class was an AP class which meant the grade earned an extra quality point in computing the GPA.
They went from taking a person almost two and a half weeks working full time to a person doing it in about two days thus reducing the admissions notification process timeline to a fraction of what it was before.
The only thing about BRMHS which would get destroyed if SG forms its own school district is the estimated 200-250 SG area high school students will be forced to leave BRMHS and attend Woodlawn HS. Other applicants on the waiting list would take their place.
That is why at every SG meeting the parents in SG of the BRMHS students are the ones being interviewed on TV opposing the breakaway.

Which sucks because the southern loop is the only part that made sense to me. The area cold really use another bridge between BR and Donaldsonville.

LSURussian still going at it.
Gotta give it to you, you been fighting the fight all week posting from sun up to sun down. On behalf of the SG movement, thanks for helping our cause. The more you guys oppose it, the better our chances are! Thanks!!
