Espn used to show stuff like the world’s strongest man, bodybuilding shows, just anything and everything sports.
Now its a bunch of morons like Kendrick Perkins giving terrible sports takes and occasionally drifting off into terrible political takes.
They need to go back to airing anything and everything sports

I know we all like to hammer them for the woke BS that they try to push, but I have to think when they started paying 50 people to give their "expert" opinions on each sport, this was the start of their downfall. Everything is just so over the top and overproduced now it is ridiculous.
Pretty much the reason I've tuned out. Got tired of seeing 8 experts on the pre, mid, and post game all sharing their firm grasp of the obvious. Just pointless oversaturation.

All they need to do is show live sports and sports center in between. That’s it’s.

Their daily lineup is unwatchable. Same talking points just delivered in different formats. Watch one, and you will get all your information for the day.
ESPN is tightly controlled, their hoses toe the line.

I would bet the talking head shows get better ratings. If world's strongest man did well they would be showing it.

Yep. Women in the booth doing men's sports is the equivalent of John Wayne, if alive, emceeing the Miss America pageant.

Obviously not as they are laying people off.
The only reason I watch espn is for live sports. If I want a sports take, I’ll listen to PMT

It really is fairly simple. They went from being the Sports section of the newspaper to being a sports related Op/Ed and Gossip section.
Sportcenter is an absolute farce. There should be two men who simply read the highlights script, preferably in a bored, condescending monotone (I miss you Charlie Steiner) with highlights playing and a line score at the end. I don't need some fricktard in a bad suit and tennis shoes telling the chick standing next to him a funny-to-them only inside joke before barely mentioning who won the Cleveland/Oakland game with the only highlight being a slow motion bat toss after one of the homeruns.
And yes I am dating myself with a newspaper reference, but they need to realize its the Gen X males who are their target TV audience. The younger generations are getting their updates on a phone app and the older generation is watching the weather channel before going to bed at 9pm.

This Gen X male bailed on professional sports ten years ago. Never watch ESPN anymore unless for a live game.

They killed sport center before it needed to be killed. They assumed that people wouldn’t watch an hour of just highlights and standing. They decided to make it commentary instead. I would kill for an hour or highlights to put on in the background every night or every morning. That is what killed them.

With ESPN for streaming I do not see the need for ESPN2, or ESPNU....each conference has its own station any way.
If they condensed programming it would help tremendously.

When Bodyshaping on ESPN2 was taken off the air.

When they quit airing Australian Rules Football during the day and CFL game replays. And sports were made to be seasonal. I love college football, but there’s not that much news to air a show about it in the middle of April.

Then ESPN could not charge cable companies and much or streaming services for the bundle. A massive amount of their subscribers are still cable based which doesn't allow them to just dump a channel.

People will always try to tie their downfall to “wokeness” but the fact is that all of cable is doomed. Look at the ratings of all cable channels now vs the mid 2000s. Streaming and internet news killed TV. Just like TV killed radio.
That said, ESPN didn’t help themselves by going to these stupid pundit shows. They are almost unwatchable.
