So you're an expert

Nope, the stuff is too freaky for me, and I try to stay away from questionable stuff like the deep web. I researched what it was just out of interest and read an explanation for what the differences between the deep and dark web were.

So, what is this "deep web" crap anyway? Is it just the "old web" that existed prior to the development of the "World wide web"? Where you had to know the url of the site you wanted to contact in lieu of using a search engine? Of course it sounds ike there are sites (Tor sites?) that would search the "Deep web" for you similar to a search engine.

So what is the big difference?

Research. File swapping. It is neither good or bad.

So, peer to peer file sharing? Or newsgroups/workgroups......

Research.

Could you possibly pick a broader, more ambiguous term? Research what exactly?

Mrs. Forkbeard: "WHAT THE HELL!!?!??? WHY ARE YOU WATCHING A SASHA GREY GANGBANG?!?!?!?!"

Me: "It's stricly research honey. Strictly research."

Harder to trace. You're more vulnerable to getting hacked. Lots of illegal stuff. Lots of fake illegal stuff. Basically a shitty horror movie.

Hey Sid, see the guy in your Avi. He is the type that lives in the Deep Web.

Schools like Cal Poly set up high databases and dumped them on the deep web. Think a legit wiki page. GAs, professors, students, etc would have access for their research.

Speaking of the Deep/Dark web, I watched a pretty interesting episode of American Greed last week about the process of capturing Dread Pirate Roberts. A couple of the Secret Service/DEA agents involved in his apprehension were arrested also for extorting DPR for hundreds of thousands of dollars to remain silent about DPR's identity.

Very interesting if you ever get a chance to see it. Comes on CNBC.
