This was a shocker, but it Launched Hogan to the Top again about becoming boring and vanilla. It also led to another greater personality with the crow Sting.
In turning heel, he passed the torch to Sting. Who went from a fan favorite in wcw, to an Icon.

The Benoit episode was great. Great ending too when they revealed Chavo and Nancy's sister were in the room with Benoit's surviving son. Amazing how shitty the parents/grandparents were about keeping them apart.
Last year they did an episode on Evolve (Darby Allen being their star) and one on ECW. A few other stories as well...if you were a fan during the territory days they mostly just confirmed rumors/"myths".

All WCW did was took ready made talent that had already lost their primes, aside from Hall and Nash and 1-2-3 kid, and put them into a more of an adult-oriented wrestling. Turner was giving Bischoff blank checks and the talent was making the same or more money and working nearly half the dates.
The NWO revolutionized wrestling and then quickly watered it the frick down. How many members did the NWO get up to? 30? And all of them minus Bagwell and 1 or 2 more were all WWF stable. fricking Virgil was in it. And it basically was Sting putting the company on his stupid character's back and facing NWO. And in there you also had masked Mexican high flyers, Flair, Luger, a mismanaged Bret Hart, and jobbers. Oh and the worst wrestling match of alltime in Hogan vs. WARRIOR.
Vince McMahon is a crazy genius. He took 80 plus weeks of getting his arse beat and in the end, put the WCW flat on its arse with just 6 primetime dudes...Rock, HHH, HBK, Stone Cold, Taker, and Foley. Compare that payroll with the ungodly amount of 38 year olds that the WCW was having to pay.

WCW paid half of their roster to sit on their asses. Jim Neidhart said that was the easiest money he made in his entire career.
It is amazing how long WCW managed to make it considering they were pouring money out to damn near everyone in the business.

It worked for a while. They nearly put WWF out of business. They didn't have a long term plan though and it all fell through once WWF adapted.

I grew up watching Togo Yamamoto as a kid when when he turned heel and attack Bobby Eaton was a devastating day for me nich gulas studio wrestling out of Huntsville was my sat go to as a kid

I’m just here to let you guys know the WWE Network is free for everyone right now.
And being that we’re all in quarantine, there’s some really good stuff on the network to reminisce.
The documentaries are my favorite. I hardly watch any of the wrestling content. Maybe some PPVs from the 90s. For me, these are stories where they pulled the curtain back on your childhood.
I highly suggest downloading the app for the documentaries and interviews. Man, talk about bringing on back in time.
There’s even some old Mid South Wrestling shows there as well. So many memories. So little time.

Vince was a genius. Vince was also very close to losing his company during those 80 something weeks to losing to WCW. Eric had a good thing going and then screwed it up by, as you said, watering it down. Vince is great... But a lot of his success was at the hands of frick ups by Eric, not successes by Vince. It's just Vince was consistent. Eric was all over the place and ended up imploding. Don't get me wrong, Vince is a mastermind. But don't up play his success without mentioning it being due to Eric mess ups.
