We see black bear daily. Brown bear are more rare in town but several of the islands are loaded with them. Three of the islands here have more than one brown bear per square mile. These islands ate 1000-1600 sq miles in size

These are the coastal bears, 1000 lbs and up isn't uncommon. You definitely have to have your head on a swivel
