No such thing. There are, however, systems that do help keep poor people poor.

That’s socioeconomic though. Has zero to do with race.

Which, by the way, is complete and total horse shite in and of itself. There is only one race, the human race.

Let's ignore, for the sake of argument, whether these things continue to today.

Will you concede that state sanctioned/condoned racism and caste existed in the United States until, let's say, 1965?

For me to concede that there is racism, I would first have to agree that there are different races. There aren’t different races.

There is one race. The human race.

Skin color is nothing but a result of generations and generations of gene selection to combat UV radiation.

I’m sorry that you continue to want to place people into neat little categories based on physical traits that tell you nothing about a person except that their ancestors came from an area with either high, or low, UV radiation.

Is this the same as saying "You sure are emotional"? That is the bastion of the weak.

Visceral, horrific racism was government supported and sanctioned in this country, through action or intentional inaction, far longer than that.

I can agree with this. It still does not make me responsible. Here's another thing. You are not responsible either, unless your actions dictate otherwise. Let Muh guilt go.

Yeah, other than the reason I wrote out, twice.

But anyway, that was some serious projecting. I didn't blame you for anything. I didn't blame your mee-maw for anything. I didn't blame myself for anything. Take a breath.

ETA: Have you guys really not understood after all this time that the argument for reparations is to pay for harm done by the State, not by individuals?

I just reread our family history recently.

My ancestors owned lots of slaves. Bunches.

I don’t owe the descendants of slaves anything.

Nothing.

Zero.

Total absence of any amount.

Wake up and leave the cave bud. Race is a lie used to place an “other” who is out to get you or harm you. It’s nothing but a lie used to divide and conquer and sow distrust amongst men for the betterment of the leaders.

We can take the population of South Sudan and flip it with the population of Norway, keep everything else constant and eventually their skin colors will flip. Skin color means nothing. It’s a joke. It’s a lie meant to place blame and consolidate against the “other”

You are one that will argue all night through deflection, misdirection, and dishonesty. You are transparent and your misguided agenda is pitiful.

You advocate for something that cannot be accomplished without harming millions of innocents, to benefit millions who may be uninvolved.

You are dishonest and I choose not to speak to you.

When a government employee in a government vehicle causes an accident with injury, who pays for the damage?

Delightful, but beside the point.

When the State causes harm, the "State" (through our individual tax dollars) pays for it. We can quibble over whether that's a good or bad thing, but it's reality, nonetheless. I'm not particularly fond of how much of our tax dollars goes towards paying settlements due to police misconduct, but here we are.

The concept of reparations is no different.

“It’s a reality” doesn’t make it okay to continue to dig your hand into the purse every time you want some damn money.

I’m not fond of how much we spend housing criminals for life when 5 feet of rope and a shovel cost the same as one meal.

Yet here we are.

And we can nip back and forth about government spending we don't like. My point is that reparations is proposed as government paying for harm government has done. So unless you are also arguing against the government paying for the damages caused by my car accident hypothetical, you can't argue against reparations under the theory of citizens of today having nothing to do with slavery.

Plenty of legitimate arguments against reparations. That simply isn't one of them.
