In Germany if it contains anything other than grains, hops, and water you can't legally consider it beer. I subscribe to the same philosophy
You forgot yeast. And there are exceptions to this. And it's not grains, but specifically barley with wheat being an exception.
And Belgium politely disagrees. Some delicious beers using other ingredients.

shite beer may be nostalgic, but it’s still shite beer at the end of the day. Things improve, and it’s about time that American beer stepped up it’s game. And I think that it’s an over generalization to equate craft beer to chocolates, avocados and citrus. There are tons of fantastic craft beers that are just damn good wheat beers, blowing the doors off the tired garbage domestics we had to consume back in the day. I’m not in college anymore, and I have a palate that’s more refined than it was when I was 20, living my life around Beenie weenies and cheep beer to play quarters with. i don’t need copious amounts of cheep shite to consume, but I do need options, and thankfully, we have a bunch of them to choose from these days, and it’s only getting better. So, while domestics play their “the masses choose domestics” card, they’re getting their asses handed to them in quality, and besides, the masses are asses rule still applies. The fact that I’m supporting local business and industry when I choose a local beer over a domestic out of state, only makes me feel that much better about my decision, and the end result is much more palatable.

Which is closer to what beer originally tasted like before the discovery and isolation of particular types of yeast which made control of the finished beer much easier and predictable. Fruit was added to the "sour" beer to cut the tartness back then. So adding fruit to beer goes back hundreds of years.

The main problem is, well, they don't taste like beer. I guess I'm a traditionalist. I don't want a beer that tastes like chocolate or oranges or avocados. I want a beer that taste like … I don't know, beer
So he thinks an English Ale shipped thousands of miles starting in the 1700s, made with extra hops, shouldnt taste like an IPA?
Or a German Rauchbier, should it not be smoked, even though it has been done so for centuries?
Or a Dutch beer shouldnt be unfiltered and fermented with oranges, also made for centuries?

The English language intimidates you? It’s just a word that refers to one’s sense of taste, and yes, people’s sense of taste (their palate) changes as they mature, but alas, it’s true. Some people’s never do.
I’m sorry that I no longer care for spaghettios like when I was 3. Actual good food does that. Same with beer.

The funny part is your serious and fine dining for you is Longhorn Steakhouse by the outlet mall in Gonzales Louisiana

It's weird how rednecks have such brand loyalty for shitty beer. Akin to being proud of eating McDonalds or shopping for clothes at Wal Mart

You seriously have no clue about my dining habits, but it’s very entertaining. Please, by all means continue.

If you live in the greater Baton Rouge area I know you aren't eating at fine dining places despite the fact you may think you are

Its actually a small test of mine to see what I like to drink by not drinking it cold.
Making something cold masks the flavor of beer to make it more palatable. Similar to drinking a whisky on the rocks vs drinking it neat. You dont need to put ice cubes in good scotch whisky to make it drinkable or even enjoyable.

This is why straight IPAs and dark lagers are the best

Because New Orleans is like on another planet and my umbilical cord doesn’t reach past Gonzales.
Please don’t suppose to educate me on the BR food scene. All I’ve done is taken grief on the FDB for discussing it’s low watermark for excellence. I get it, but there are some places which are actually trying to make it better, and I’m not going to piss all over them to deal in generalities.
Regardless, the fact you’re taking issue with me over the use of the word palate tells me you’re not the least bit interested in a serious discussion over food or beverage, just in being a little frick nut and stirring up shite. Par for the course on this site I’m afraid to say. It’s more important for you to sling out little zingers and elevate your own sense of self importance than discuss anything like an adult.
That’s why you’re a slow learner.

You want to discuss food on an annomysous message board.
