If it’s still like it used to be, and I have no reason to think it’s not, the real money is in the side action. Just like in the color of money at the big tournament. Games in between matches or after the tournament day is done and people that have already been eliminated.
Usually a “stake horse” will put up the money for the player for a percentage (usually 50%). Some players r3fuse to wager their own money. Here is the danger of “the dump”. If you know who is dumping you can make some large wagers on the side with someone who does not realize the match is a foregone conclusion.
Beware : some very unscrupulous people frequent pool halls.
