My grandpa had an aortic aneurysm, also.
Had some back and chest pain. Went to hospital, all the family showed up, he talked to everyone then drifted off. My grandmother had died 3 years previous, he was ready to go.

I just want to be conscious. For some reason the thought of going to sleep anticipating the next morning and not waking terrifies me. Of course, I’d hate to waste away from cancer, Alzheimer’s or some other painful or awful disease, but the thought of being conscious and knowing I’m going seems more palatable than just not waking up.
