Found this in newspaper archives in December 5, 1933 while looking for prohibition repealed stories. Can't make this up.

I wish my grandpa would have gotten some of that gold at $34.01 an ounce and later will it to me.

Someone once told me what the land east of Airline Highway was worth during the Great Depression. Don't remember the amount, just that it was absurdly cheap.
