WSJ

Yet the White Ms Buttersworth is allowed to exert her white privilege and stay on the shelves.

“PepsiCo. Inc.’s business that sells Aunt Jemima products said it would retire the brand because of its origins in racist imagery of black people, the latest example of how companies are trying to grapple with racial disparities following the killing of George Floyd.

PepisCo’s packaged-foods unit said Wednesday it would remove imagery of the black woman from the Aunt Jemima brand’s pancake mixes, syrups and other products, and change its name. The company didn’t disclose the new name, but said packaging changes will appear...“

She is a beloved icon. What the fricking frick? The decline of older black women as caregivers to whites and blacks is one of this country's problems.

You didn’t even try, and you didn’t even need to search. It could have jumped up and bit you.

Why is it that almost every single company seems to have a specific action item in their back pockets to acknowledge their own racism and attempt to combat it?

Band aid making black band aids, Walmart taking the locks off the beauty products, aunt jemima committing honorable suicide...Corp America was ready for this.

Tip of the day.

Go out and purchase as many Aunt Jemima products as you can. Going to be a collector's item one day.

A black friend told me the only thing he thinks about when he sees Aunt Jemima is pancakes. He fells like a part of his childhood is being thrown out.

Yeah so I can’t wait to watch this WalMart thing play out. So they unlock the black beauty products. They repeatedly come up missing. So then you have three choices: just stop carrying them, which is racist. Or raise the price which is racist. Or you just let black people walk out of the store with whatever you want. Your move WalMart.
