I used to be opposed to consolidating the BRPD with the EBRSO because it would eliminate positions protected by civil service but..
the way things are now I support eliminating the BRPD all-together and moving all of those positions and responsibilities to the EBRSO.

Somehow BRPD pulled 26 officers out of their arse with this most recent academy. My guess is they passed everyone who could show up and write most of their name correctly.
It is a shame, because prior to 2016, BRPD was a premier place to work. It didn't pay the best, but the guys who worked there loved it and never left. Now, they are leaving as quickly as they can find a new profession. Anyone joining BRPD today is insane. It is only going to get worse.
Those who are joining now will enjoy working The Bottoms with about three other officers (maybe) and that's only until those guys leave too. It was not that long ago a BRPD officer posted on Facebook (and I am paraphrasing) he showed up for shift on Monday with a room of 4-5 officers. By Friday he showed up and it was just him, because the rest had quit.
