I feel like every small school in louisiana repeats that line "but our nursing school!".

Theres what? Like a dozen nursing programs or more in the state? Get rid of half of em and actually get one that is recognized nationally. Because right now none of them are no matter how often I hear about how great nicholls, selu, ull, ulm, etc are

I will say this, there is literally no reason why LSU-A should have been made a 4 year university.

With ULL and NSU literally down the road it has never made any sense why they expanded that school.

ULM nursing isn't even close to Tech. Bring the pharmacy school to Ruston since it's the only public program. That's the only thing worth a shite at ULM. While we're at it, let's try and shut down the city of Monroe, too.

There should be 3 major universities in Louisiana with UNO in New Orleans because NOLA needs a public university.

Louisiana Tech in Ruston
Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College in Baton Rouge
University of Louisiana in Lafayette

La Tech is our STEM specialization school that can also feed students into the pharmacy college housed at the current ULM. ULM could be converted into a 2-year school that feeds into La Tech and houses the pharmacy program.

LSU is the largest school in the state, A&M specialties and a strong engineering dept. as well as a solid journalism and liberal arts programs. Southeastern can feed students into LSU.

UL (currently UL Lafayette) needs to start pouring money back into its computer science programs which at one point were cutting edge (brand new Computer Science building on campus). They will also have strong engineering programs as long as oil is important in Lafayette -- Lafayette oil companies put a lot of money into the engineering programs at UL Lafayette. Also has a strong nursing program that can handle more students with the university's acquisition of the land where the old Our Lady of Lourdes used to be. McNeese can feed students into UL.

The universities like ULM, McNeese, Southeastern can offer 2-yr degree options and then funnel kids into neighboring schools for 4-yr programs.

Lake Charles probably doesn't need a university either with Lafayette being so close.

This is stupid. A city the size of Lake Charles and surrounding areas does need a university and McNeese is just the right size to service the area. Lafayette would be over a 2 hours drive for some people that commute to McNeese from the surrounding areas.

Plus, no one in their right mind wants to go to a school with such an identity crisis.

Lake Charles doesn't need a 4 year university. Lafayette is an hour away, McNeese should offer 2 year degrees and funnel the rest of their students to Lafayette. Not everyone deserves a university in their home town.

Lafayette doesn't need a 4 year university. Baton Rouge is only an hour away.

ULL-L should be the first to go. They are utterly useless, have astronomical rates of venereal disease, and are embarrassing to the rest of the state. Tech is full of pine trees and pathetic mama's boys. Send them to Grambling to get raped. Make Southern a Vo-Tech. Rest are cool.

Close the school in Lafayette. They bring nothing to the table, and with a higher quality school nearby in lake Charles, it would not be missed.

No point in keeping UL-Lafayette when a superior school like McNeese is just down the road.

LSU-A, UL-Lafayette, Grambling, and SUNO should not be open.

Don't belittle the Chuck or stout will get his panties tied up in a triple knot.

Nothing you said was wrong though. McNeese should be a Juco at worst and nonexistent at best.

Yes I am. I am simply using your logic to show how absured it is.

You have made zero valid points to close down a university that is needed. I think the larger cities need at least one university and there are plenty of universities that are too repetitive but McNeese isn't one of them considering it is the only option in an area with 300k+ people and also poised to be the fastest growing area in the state for the next 5-10 years due to the many large projects going on.

Like I said, there are people that have to commute to McNeese now and Laffy would put them well over a 2-hour drive. Plenty of people work and go to school too. Add in 4 hours round trip of driving to ULL and that isn't feasible. Guess we just tell those people tough shite?

I don't give a shite what you say about Lake Charles. I don't even live in LC and never will.

They should shut down SUNO, Grambling, LSU-A, and merge redundant programs at ULM and Tech into one school.

Also probably scale back UL-Lafayette into a community college.

Then invest heavily in Tech/ULM, UNO, McNeese, and LSU after gutting some of their more useless programs.

McNeese would need to significantly expand and increase its enrollment. They are only around 8,000 students, which is less than half of ULL.
