You can make it a bad arse meal if you break away from the norm and smoke a brisket or put a cook a Boston Butt, or whatever you like. Deer stew with fried backstrap. Whatever.

You can smoke bbq and eat backstrap whenever. There is only one day where I can put turkey, dressing, and 3-4 casseroles on my plate at one time. I want my day damnit!!!

I don't think it's any disrespect to Thanksgiving. Christmas is a holiday that lends more toward decoration.
I'd sing out some Thanksgiving Bangers if they had some. Tell Mariah Carey to bust out a Thanksgiving tune

To me thanksgiving decorations are just fall decorations, and all the pumpkin spice latte crew has had fall decor up since before Halloween

Thanksgiving in my family is essentially just Christmas without gifts

To me it is New Years that gets the short end of the stick.

I used to feel the same way, then I had kids. It's a lot of work getting all the decorations up, and I like having stuff up for longer if I'm putting in the work.

Also, we never host Thanksgiving. So, there's no need to keep up fall décor when it won't be around us on Thursday. I would agree that if my MIL has all of her Christmas decorations for Thanksgiving, it will feel off.

We were the same way. We had the same exact meal for both holidays. So, Thanksgiving has the Macy's Day Parade and, more than likely, bad football games. Christmas has presents.

I do it early because if I'm gonna go up and down the attic ten times and spend a day of putting decorations out, it better be for longer than a couple of weeks.
if you put up decorations the day after thanksgiving you get like 6 weeks out of them. That’s more than enough. 2 months or more of lights up is obnoxious

I agree. It’s shameful.

Kids love them too
It’s good to teach kids that good things come to those who wait. Too many kids these days are learning no impulse control and this contributes to that IMO. This might be a controversial take but I stand by it.

And if they’re out this early, by the time Christmas rolls around they have already lost the peak of their effect. It’s not even exciting or special anymore.

People are always just ready for the next shite and then move on when it gets there. Sad. Slow down.

half baked take- the combination of people in retail jobs not getting time off, more and more people working office jobs that only shut down for thanksgiving day, more people living hundreds of miles away from "home", and the early and often push of commercialized christmas by the media has led to thanksgiving being more of an afterthought and/or a PITA.

Thanksgiving is the GOAT because it’s on a Thursday every year. Nearly everyone gets a holiday from Wednesday afternoon through Sunday. The only objective is to be with family and to eat food.

Christmas when it falls on a weekend day can go f#ck itself.
