know this is a polarizing release for them, but it looks great in person, and it fits what I like to wear.

I like everything about it, except the Arabics. Would’ve been better just having a stick dial, IMO.

The only thing polarizing is the indices. I love a good 69 but I really, really hate that 6-9. The diamond set dial with plain baguettes is much better.

If it were possible to get the blue dial from the platinum, baguette indices, with the fluted bezel, it would be perfect.

ETA: despite my gripes, still a very cool pickup. Wear it in good health, Papi.

Something a little off-beat.

I agree with both of you guys...I love stick dials. This one would be much better without the arabics, not 100% sure I'll keep it, but I do like the Oysterquartz case shape/flat jubilee/integrated bracelet and really dig the visible decorated movement, and the gold skeletonized rotor is an especially nice touch, in my estimation. I also wasn't sure what I would think about the honeycomb dial, but it is killer in person, particularly under a loupe mag.

On the topic of simple stick dials, I also picked this 12600-0012 beige dial 36mm OP last month from the same AD. I was at least mildly surprised to get two calls in such short order, but they know I like 36 mm watches.

beautiful creamy patina on the dial furniture, I'm partial to the larger markers without the WG surrounds. That's a 16800? What year is that watch?

Its an 82 16800. Got it about 10 years ago because i wanted a birth year watch. It's now had the full Michael Young treatment on the bracelet and case.

While we're at it, what's with the trend toward smaller watches? People, at least in the online watch community are constantly lobbying for watches in the 36-38mm range and bitch about anything bigger than 40mm. I have a 7.25 inch wrist, which is by no means tree trunk size. I'm wearing a 42mm Muhle Glashutte now and it looks just about right; I wouldn't want anything below that. I tried on a 42mm Rolex Explorer II the other day and even it looked smallish.

I'm with you. The black bay pro is 39 but it wears like a 40-41. I live in the 39-42 camp. I would be much more likely to go to a 44 than I would a 37.

I tried on the 36 and the 40mm explorer 1 and the 36 was comically small. I know that's how history tells us it was, but it's still tiny.
