Teurlings was in our district during my freshman and sophomore yrs of high school in the early 90's. They were big rivals. sTm was a pretty big rival of ours in bball too during my hs years. Both schools we battled with, beat, and lost games to. Hated those guys, and said the typical rich kid shite about them. Met most of them after high school, and some were the coolest dudes. So anyone saying rich kid blah blah blah. Every school has them. It's more of a reflection of shitty parenting than the kids. I guarantee public schools are just as bad with the culcha and other crap.

I am still coming to grips with sending my kid there. Its a good school. But I can't get the bad taste out of my mouth. It's the 18yr old high schooler in me.....

Where did you go to high school? Or what general area? Either down HWY 90 or down HWY 14 I’d assume.

Modern Hanson is, umm, something, but that just the dying nature of Jeanerette/Franklin

Not to derail thread but the Northside responses made me laugh so hard I spit out my drink at work.
As an embarrassed 02 graduate of that place the joke really does resonate with me.
It was like an awesome private school for the 8 white kids in AP/gifted and they let us go to UL and start college early. Atmosphere was so criminal they didn't even really worry about our attendance..more about our safety. Our very little group probably missed 50% of our JR/SR year and worked on school at home or UL.
Very grateful they were looking out for us.

Ascension is practically in my back yard. I think my daughter would be happier at teurlings, but it’s very far. She thinks she wants to be at stm with most of her friends. We’ll see, 2+ years to decide.

Well yea. Thats because there is no money in either of those towns. The mass exodus of graduates and young money started around my time there. Nobody goes back there because there is nothing there. If there were jobs etc there it might be different. What i find funny about it is that 90% of the kids there come from public school parents. Parents that hated private school kids when they were that age....

If your kid is smart enough to get in, send her to ESA. If you have a son, send him to STM.

He can send both of his kids there, not just the daughter. His son is statistically unlikely to play college or pro sports so he may as well get him the best education possible.

I'm not originally from Lafayette but live here now and I have a junior at STM. I've seen the "money" thing about the school several times. Can someone explain it to me? Most of the kids I know that are there come from upper/middle class families that work for their money. I know there are also very wealthy kids that go there, but I don't see where it gets them any special treatment.

Drive around the STM parking lot.
Sending a couple kids to STM is going to run you $20k/ year - that’s not happening in middle class families now matter how much we like to act like it is.
Look around the campus - everything about it screams we’ve got more money and not afraid to show it.
I’ve got no problem with any of it, but don’t stick your head in the sand about it either.

If you're being forced to live there, you probably can't afford either school. Luckily, Lafayette High and Acadiana are great schools. Just buy a house on that side of town.
