Best he can get is manslaughter or negligent homicide.
He's gonna do time.
Unless the girl was attacking him with a weapon, it's hard to see a rational defense of shooting a bystander.
You pull out your gun, you're responsible for who you shoot.

She was not a bystander, she was an active participant the mob beating on him. One doesnt have to restrict their use of a firearm for defense to those who are only using weapons.

It was not a high school party. It's been confirmed that there were adults there as well. It was also on land owned by ALDOT that they were apparently trespassing on. It has also been confirmed that Silas McCay and his merry band of thugs have attacked guys before at this gathering place. It's their MO. After watching the video, the charge will be reduced from murder to reckless manslaughter more than likely. If they would have let the guy walk away, nobody would have gotten shot.

He shouldn't be charged with anything.

He is a sleezeball
But if multiple people are beating on someone while that person is on the ground, the person on the ground is gonna be pretty fearful of their life.
You can’t just sit and beat someone while they are on the ground trying to cover up to protect themselves and say you didn’t go too far.
It’s unfortunate someone lost their life but multiple people beating someone on the ground is way more than was needed.
He will probably get off since the video will show him getting beat by multiple people while on the ground.
I don’t agree with the guy messing with the girl but jumping someone never ends well

Every state I’ve ever lived in you can’t conceal carry after drinking… this dude is probably fricked. Rightly so.

That’s true but does that make a legitimate self defense claim turn into a murder charge?
Seems to me it should just be a weapons charge.
I’m not saying his is a legitimate self defense claim, though it certainly could be.
This guy seriously needs a good trial lawyer.
What we don’t know, at least I haven’t read, any witness statements about what exactly transpired before the physical attack. I’m assuming there was no drugging attempt. I am assuming he was merely talking to the 18 year old. I’m also assuming she made a reckless comment to a friend about him trying to drug her and it made its way to the thugs who attacked.
A young woman should definitely not accept an open beer from anyone but a trusted friend but it is a giant leap to say he was trying to drug her, obviously.
