I am too and end up paying in the 30s,
my state and payroll alone is going to be 21% on the majority of my income
that's before federal income, sales tax, gas tax, etc

yes but the ignorant masses still believe the rich don't pay taxes.
I partly blame people like Buffet who make such claims, knowing full well his situation is different than most.

Wonder what John Oliver will say about Syrian immigration and the security risk it poses now.
He was quite impressed with himself a few weeks ago on his show.

I've never watched his show. He seems very smug though.

I agree with him sometimes and disagree sometimes.
He was pretty convinced how xenophobic anyone against this uncontrolled migration was and that security issues were overblown.
Now we know they were not.

Seeing reports of raids in Belgium related to Paris. I may be late on that news. Just saw it on WDSU.

Come on what?
If I say something with conviction (and with substantial mockery to other opinions) I must be prepared when counter evidence is presented.
We have that now with passport found being processed via Greece.

I saw that John Oliver piece and he is so fricking dumb, I should go back and find the people who posted it on FB so I can mock them

Higher income earners are the ones that are fricked. Passive income earners pay less.
Between FICA, FUTA and Medicare it's 21%. Add in federal, state and the fact that I pay little interest on the house and can only claim standard deduction, I am fricked.
What really gets me is how people don't see that close to 13% is going to social security and the largest benefit is like 2200 monthly. That is a shitty investment.

Did you read the comments in that pamgeller link? Several people claim that New Orleans is a hub for funneling money to Syrian Isis

Which may be true.
The issue was that it was deemed xenophobic to even consider slowing this down to weed those people out and here we are.

hey now
