Even if we pulled every single US service member out of the ME, they would still target us.

I would think if you make it easy for foreign born terrorists, and those sympathetic to them, to enter the country, you will be LESS safe? Increasing the number of people in country who want to annihilate you and yours increases the likelihood of such attacks?

You understand that NATO does not require us to actually commit our arm forces right? It requires that we send assistance in any form we see fit. It requires us to assist but we are not forced into sending troops are anything like thay

That's great and all but 9/11 happened before the Iraq War.
Afghanistan and the Sudan were not stable pre-9/11 which allowed al Qaeda to grow and thrive.

A political prophet said this stuff a few years ago. He was called a crackpot.
quote:
Demanding domestic security in times of war invites carelessness in preserving civil liberties and the right of privacy. Frequently the people are only too anxious for their freedoms to be sacrificed on the altar of authoritarianism thought to be necessary to remain safe and secure. Nothing would please the terrorists more than if we willingly give up some of our cherished liberties while defending ourselves from their threat.
quote:
“How did the American people ever reach this point where they believe that US aggression in the Middle East will make us safe when it does the opposite? How did the American people ever reach the point where they believe that fighting unconstitutional wars is required to protect our freedoms and our Constitution? Why do we allow the NSA, CIA, FBI, TSA, etc. to destroy our liberty at home, as part of the Global War on Terror, with a pretext that they are preserving our liberty? Why are the lying politicians reelected and allowed to bankrupt our country, destroy our money, and enter wars without the proper consent? Why do the American people suffer in silence and not scream “Enough is enough!”? We’ve had enough of the “humanitarian do-gooders” and the proponents of “American exceptionalism” who give us nothing but war, economic suffering, and less freedom. This can and must be stopped.
quote:
"I believe very sincerely that the CIA is correct when they teach and talk about blowback. When we went into Iran in 1953 and installed the shah, yes, there was blowback. A reaction to that was the taking of our hostages and that persists. And if we ignore that, we ignore that at our own risk. If we think that we can do what we want around the world and not incite hatred, then we have a problem. They don't come here to attack us because we're rich and we're free. They come and they attack us because we're over there. I mean, what would we think if we were –if other foreign countries were doing that to us?"

Wtf do you think? Of course, there is a correlation.

No because you sound pretty ignorant on how NATO works.

Those are areas of the world that quite honestly should just be eradicated for the good of the common world.

Exactly. A strong and involved America is the best solution for the world.

If we knock out ISIS, it will create yet another power vacuum that will eventually be filled by some other brutal regime.
People that work on these issues on a daily basis say the same thing. Yet we continue to meddle in ME affairs.
Kill one. Two more pop up.

NOS: French media report that at least 4 terrorists are killed. Maybe even 5. It's only certainly that 3 are killed at Bataclan.
THIS IS NOT GOOD AT ALL. This means several got away.

Right, because we've been meddling for 70 years. They've built up a lot of hatred. We've created a monster

9/11 was probably the most unique attack in the history of the human race.
Can't really compare it to anything.

There's nothing to be done now besides combat it over there rather than sit here and wait for it to come to us

We didn't create a monster. That region of the world has been a disaster since the beginning of time.

Correct. How easily some forget that virtually every group we've been fighting, we armed and helped create.
