Looks like the terrorist has been ID'd. Apologies if this has already been posted.

The driver was identified as 31-year-old Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, whose identity documents, cellphone and bank card were found inside the 19-ton truck used in Thursday’s mayhem along a palm-dotted French Riviera corniche on Nice, according to police official in Nice. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in advance of a formal announcement.

French media reported that Bouhlel has no apparent previous links to extremism. But the probe has shifted quickly to determine whether Bouhlel acted alone, or if he had connections and a support network that could be plotting further violence.

well the article says he wasnt religious and liked girls and salsa???

Sounds like typical of the bigwig muslims in saudi, dubai, qatar where they're extremely religious at home but go crazy when they go abroad to europe and party, drink, and do all the other things islam forbids

Why isn't there a thread about the attack on the front page of reddit?

I watched the video of the guy filming all the bodies in the street and blood everywhere... didn't bother me nearly as much as that picture of the girl with her doll laying next to her.

That being said, you are basically describing World War II Japan.

Huh? Not at all. The war with Japan was against a nation that had a defined territory. That is not at all similar to what we are dealing with today. We aren't just going to go around nuking symbolic targets, aside from Raqqa. Sure, it may take out some people, but it won't solve the problem. It could in fact make it worse.

well we need our politicians and media to first off stop defending islam.

islam the religion is the problem, this is what the religion is preaching. So stop defending "the religion of peace" bs.

I would also like to point out that it is not being labelled correctly. Islam is not a religion. It is a religious/political system. When your holy texts are used to dictate laws and policy then it becomes more than a simple religion.

The media's already trying take out the radical Muslim angle. Some French news outlets are saying he wasn't a "religious Muslim".

Gory stuff doesn't really bother me even when caused by evil. But when it's kids it's a different ballgame

The fact that they blatantly disregard the allegations of him screaming aloha snackbar as he plowed through crowds of innocent civilians and say "he was a French citizen" blows my mind. That's not an argument. You can't say "Oh, the San Bernardino shooters were Americans" or "The Boston Bombers were Americans" doesn't erase their affiliations. Why are they so afraid of calling a spade a spade? When Timothy McVeigh blew up the Oklahoma City Federal Building, they had no problem saying it was extreme right wing nationalism that caused it, but when someone makes a point to state their cause and why they did something, the media shys away from it. Pathetic
