We have had 2 people so far who went on the vent survive. We've got a 3rd that has been successfully extubated so far. And the two that have survived will have permanent issues from it. Both ended up with a trach and a PEG and wasted away. Dying is easier than what most of these people go through.

All of the vents we are getting now are dying and have been for weeks. We are dealing with the Thanksgiving patients currently. In another week we'll have the Christmas cases. There is no time frame. Some people die very quickly. Others somehow hang on for weeks and weeks. We've been watching two of ours for days now that should have been dead already. Thankfully we finally got the family to make them DNRs today so we won't have to code them and ensure that pointless shitshow.

There were 5 folks at Kroger today without masks. 3 black guys and 2 Hispanic guys.

The moment he realizes that he is of the same mindset of these anti-maskers, "who don't give a shite about killing others", as much as he doesn't care about killing others, that is the only possible jumping point for a change of attitude. He has become what he despises the most.

These are the good works that have been been set out for us: To draw others to Christ's love and let His light shine in our places of division. We can argue all day about the things that divide us, and plant seeds that offer no persuasion to the other side or we can be a beacon of hope to those we may otherwise hate. This is love. Let those who call themselves Christians offer to others our reason for hope. The world said I was a meth junky, but when Christ intervened, I am who God says I am: a child of God. Now let us who are Christians take the same attitude in our view of others. Maybe Kurt Eichenwald is a child of God, but he needs someone with the light of Jesus to remove the blinders from him. When we view people as children of God, then can we draw on the hope he has given us.
