Of course it does. But for a large southern city it pales in comparison to the others. So much that if you moved here, you would honestly feel like it is non-existent. As a person that grew up in Br and then lived in Nola, I honestly feel like there is no crime here at times

my view is skewed because i've ridden on practically every road in 4/5 counties on my bicycle.

as a member of the harpeth bike club, we do 'urban assaults' all the time which takes us everywhere from TSU to downtown to east nashville and north of town.

nothing remotely sketchy and i'm always stopping at some hole in the wall mexican place where the menus are in spanish or a soul food kitchen and have always had a great experience.

NEVER had a black/white/brown/yellow person give me shite attitude like i got when i lived in BR and NOLA and HOUSTON.

its like people are actually happy here.

but what do i know. i've only lived here since 1996.

I've visited Nashville many times. If there's one thing I would take away from it, it's the lack of crime and whiteness. Seriously. Everything else there, I could take it or leave it.
You can post any link you want. Spend some time there. Hell, go into a Wal Mart and tell me you're not in Camelot when compared to the shite we have to deal with down here.

Yes, yes it is... People that have lived in Atlanta as long as you have lived in Nashville probably have a different take on what areas are bad and which ones are safe. Famaliarity and knowledge gives you a different view. I am sure some of the sketchy areas in Atlanta that scared you probably don't bother a lot of Atlanta people that have lived there since 1996 as well.

How's the crime in Chattanooga? I've always had the impression that it was a fairly rough city (kind of like areas in Little Rock), but I didn't see that at all when I visited. Downtown was very new and clean. Tons of interactive water parks, people kayaking and paddle boarding, walking around, etc. I was very, very impressed. It's such a beautiful city too.

It's not bad. It's not lily white as like most of East Tennessee, so it gets a bad rap a lot.

2 of my best friends in Nashville are from Atlanta and went to UGA. I have heard them talk about how safe Nashville is compared to Atlanta on several occasions.

Also, they laugh when Nashville people bitch about traffic

Nashville or Chattanooga? Which has more bible thumpers? Trying to escape Jacksonville. We are looking at both places, my job can move me to either.

Yes, I have already said in this thread Atlanta isn't as safe as Nashville. I was just saying CADs whole there is nowhere sketchy in Nashville is bunk. His famaliarity with the area makes him feel safer. Just like a person who has lived in Atlanta would feel safer in certain areas of Atlanta that scared CAD because of his unfamaliarity with Atlanta.

Interested in outdoor activities? ---> Chattanooga
Interested in more big city entertainment? (pro sports, music, dining, nightlife) --->Nashville

buckhead area, out for a nice dinner at the revolving restaurant, standing outside looking for a taxi and there are cops standing around and people are yelling at each other and smoking pot.

didn't realize it was legal in ga, cop didn't care.

i prefer a city where you feel like the laws are actually being enforced rather than intimidated (the cops clearly were intimidated by the crowds)

If this were true we wouldn't have the lowest short sale/foreclosure per county in TN. You sound a little bitter/mad poor.

Love Mt Juliet Providence area, but it's trac builder after trac builder and 40 to and from city work commute is brutal

Hendersonville is a nightmare

I love Williamson County. But there's a lot of fake there, as there is in any affluent suburb in America. Sure there are many legit as well. On another note, Franklin High School is maroon and white and nicknamed the Rebels. That's weird to this MSU grad.

To me it would be between Williamson County's great schools and Mount Juliet's more house for the money.

Hendersonville is out unless you work in Sumner County or Goodlettsville. If you worked downtown, it would be completely out of the question.

Nashville will have more just by shear population. Probably same percentage wise of the population. That's pretty much Tennessee in general. I would say Chattanooga is more of a liberal city in comparison to Nashville though. It has it's pros and cons depending on your political view.

as in? the only thing i can think of is you are closer to white water rafting.

nashville has waterfalls, canoing, cycling, lakes & caves within an hour's drive.
