It’s not just about my experience. The world as a whole was vastly different then. It wouldn’t be just myself with no cell, internet, etc. It would be all of society without those things thus making it a far better, albeit less convenient, place.

Yeah I guess it would depend on if you knew those things existed too and had become dependent on them.
My dad doesn't have a smart phone or a television and he doesn't give 2 shits about owning either one.

False. Word processors with electronic data storage and printers were widespread in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
Not in the 1981 I grew up in.
And I typed my papers and applications on a typewriter through the mid-1980s at least.

How many will accept that challenge? No law says you have to use that technology today.
Yea and then half my clients fire me for not reading any emails for almost 2 weeks.
Sounds great.

I get that.
But do you yearn for a day when all you had was snail mail and maybe a fax?

Turn off your cellphone.
Well, except for the fact that my cell phone is the contact people have for me, including people from work.
If we go back to the 1980s everyone knows they have to call my landline.

I would yearn for a day I didn't get ten calls a day from somebody calling with a name of John and Indian accent. Back in 81 we had pong and loved it.

It's always amazing to see prices at $2,000 or more for TVs and Stereos then. That's in those dollars. $6,000 or more adjusted for inflation. TV had been around a while, as had devices to listen to music. And they were paying more than $6,000 in our dollars for it. What a huge investment just getting a good TV was. I'm shopping around if a 70" TV is $500 in our dollars.

And the most expensive TV then would be considered dog shite today when it comes to picture quality.
I bought my first color TV in 1987. I think it was a 27 inch. Watching a football game in color was mesmerizing on that set. Today you’d think it was tiny and grainy.

Technology was a luxury item back then, but you could still buy a cheap house. Now even low income can by flat screens, but can’t afford houses.

I'll do it if we get back Form 1 machine guns. Since that ain't happening I'll keep my STL's...

How about we just shut down social media instead?

And most people didn't expect you to return their call within minutes because you didn't always have immediate access to a telephone.

I’m just saying if it was so great, live like you would have then.
And that is where the stupidity comes in. It would take a helluva lot more than going without some technology to recreate the 80s.
Not having these things(aside from, maybe, social media) had nothing to do with why the 80s were so great. Sorry that you missed it.
