I've always wondered what other people thought about this...
Are kids these days being conditioned to be better or worse communicators because of technology? Though there is probably less face to face interaction, communication itself (by whatever means) is so much more prevalent.
Maybe it's just me, but I've always felt like I pay more attention to whatever social cues are hidden in the wording of a text than in an equally long face to face conversation.
Thoughts?

It's ruined face to face
Used to take balls to go talk to a girl. Now you just download a frick app and meet up and get drunk enough to make a bad decision

They are fine once you remove the technology. At first they're really quiet and nervous. Soon, they're sitting in circles laughing and being kids.

this seems backwards. there are a lot more "social cues" in body language.

I'm saying that as I'm writing out a text or an email, I'm actively thinking about how it will be perceived before I send it. When I'm having a normal conversation, you don't really think about how it will be perceived, it's just natural.
My thing is... does spending so much time typing things out (thus giving more time to consider how words and phrases will be received) help develop the ability to naturally say the right things in a face to face conversation?

conversely, you potentially become unable to "think on the fly" and hold a conversation in person, because you are so used to spending minutes formulating a response.

That is actually a very good point.
I took a business writing class years ago and it really opened up my eyes to this. Taught how to word your message to get what you want without being pushy or demanding. I noticed it translates perfectly to face to face convos

Translation, the Internet has taught you to be paranoid so you look for subtle passive aggressive digs in every text even if it's not there. Well bless your heart.
