Yea, I’m not dumb enough to put myself in that situation
It's not for everyone. If you talk to teachers I'd bet most would tell you they do it because they love helping kids, all the other stuff is the bullshite that comes with the job. They certainly don't do it to get rich or for the glamour. The administration always thinks you can add one more thing to your plate, the parents think you're not doing enough, know it all public citizens think you're not doing enough, and so on. People really have no clue, which is fine, but they need to just keep their uninformed judgement to themselves until they've walked in a teachers shoes. They don't sit on their asses all day.

Let's stop educating children and talk again in say 15-20 years and see how great America looks.

I can't. My teachers sucked and I never learned how to color.

quote:Yeah but you don't hear about the roofers bitching about their job to the public. Again we talking about cleaning out cubicles. If these teachers got a real job like most americans they wouldn't be able to handle it if they are bitching about using a spray bottle and a fricking rag. Even a god damn gnome could do that.
It’s because they went to school so they don’t have to do that. I’m sure the roofers love the job and really want to be doing it though

So she posts it on Tik Tok like a child?
Agreed, but Tik Tok is the new social media mass dissemination platform today. Crazy.

Why isn't she at the school board office? Because internet clout is more important. And people wonder why we're in the situation we're in now
she likely has expressed her concerns to the school board. and they likely told her tough shite.
so yeah, tictok would be a great way to get your concerns out to the masses. bc that class room is a ridiculous learning environment.
<---- not a teacher.

At least they are plexiglass and they will feel like the walls are not closing in on them, but this really is a horrible idea just because I think cubicles are not humane (I know thats a bit of an exaggeration, but I don't think humans were designed to stay in cubicles for most of the work day, 5 days a week.
But I don't blame a teacher for being pissed about this depending on what exactly it is they have to do. Are we talking about having to go windex every cubicle? Can they not give students the responsiblity to clean up their own shite?

No, we don’t. I’m a teacher and do 2-3 hours of work after school every evening and a few hours each weekend grading papers, doing lesson plans, and continuing education classes. I also work part time in the summer.

I would think this is what janitorial staff should be doing. Or as one person suggested make the kids do it at the end of the day. Making a teacher clean a room full of cubicles is bullshite.
The school my wife teaches at has ONE Custodian. There is zero chance he gets everything done in a day.
Public schools are a joke. My wife is a teacher, and while I often make jokes about the 9 month work year, I wouldn't want her job for 2x the salary she earns. There are some terrible teachers, for sure, but the admin is overrun with the worst possible people to be in charge of schools. And dear lord, if those people happen to be a protected class, you will never be able to push them out the door.
Part of the reason private schools are better than public schools is that a private school can lose students if they suck.

She is complaining about how (1) the kids can see the lesson through the rows of cubicles and (2) how to disinfect between the classes. I'd imagine it would take a solid 45 minutes to quickly disinfect everything.
Her comments are both very reasonable questions that someone should have considered before dropping $5 million.

If they bitching that hard about cleaning up, just imagine how hard they would bitching if they had to do a real job that required actual work.

What is this "actual work" you speak of?

The difference between you and teachers is that, as a business owner/boss, you get to fire an employee. Teachers have to find a way to make said employee successful despite lack of effort, lack of performance, unrealistic expectations of parents and simple apathy. Not nearly as easy as many think...I taught for many years and realize that everyone truly believes that they can teach, coach, and be president ...

If you think teachers are bad, you should listen to their admins and board. Most worthless, idiotic people that make far more than they should.

This is more true than any other statement in the thread. Teachers in the era of Covid are living a nightmare trying to teach kids, and parents rarely are helpful. It's really sad how bad it is.
