That's a separate crime, and is a misdemeanor.

You can view it as a separate crime or just an additional crime to the one she already committed, which it is.

quote:

I disagree. 14 yr old boys know what sex is and want it more than anything else.

Do 14-year-old girls not know what sex is as well? Do you honestly think that adolescent females don't possess similar sexual desires and inclinations as their male peers?

Just because a young male, or any teenager for that matter, might desire sex, that doesn't mean that they should be taken advantage of. A 14-year-old doesn't know shite about sex or life. Hell, some college freshmen still lack the mental capacity or emotional maturity to engage in the act of sex.

If you have to punish this generous lady

I honestly can't tell if you are being facetious about the matter or if you are legitimately that dense when it comes to sexual assault.

quote:

then it shouldn't be hard prison time or a lifetime sex offender registration that accomplishes nothing except humiliation.

She deserves to be humiliated and needs to rehabilitated. She is, by definition, a sexual predator. It might not be entirely uncommon for an adult to be aroused in some capacity by an adolescent that possesses mature physical attributes, but to act on any impulse or desire related to such an attraction is legally unacceptable. A teacher sleeping with a student under the age of 15 is by clinical definition a hebephiliac.

For those who see this as a nonissue because the teacher is only eight years older than the student and argue that older males date women literally half their age, please, try and apply some degree of context to the matter at hand. Age gaps are not equivalent throughout every period of life. A 25-year-old woman sleeping with a 35-year-old man is night and day when compared to a relationship involving a 22-year-old female and a 14-year-old minor.

We're not talking about a statutory charge where there is some gray area in the case. This is pretty black and white.

Something tells me his fiance banging a 9th grader would never have entered his mind as a possibility.

I'll just go ahead and make it clear that I'm ok with different standards for boys and girls when it comes to sex. There's no need for further debate Bc that's the basic crux.

You can not have possibly gathered this from what I said. Society sees teenage males being coerced into sex with a women differently than teenage girls with a man. did not say whether I thought it was right or wrong.

By using the argument involving society's supposed view of student-teacher relations, you implicitly indicated that you viewed such instances as acceptable.

quote:

How did that work out in Destrehan and all the other places where women who do this are given lighter sentences?

Wasn't it Debra Lefevre that the judge said was too pretty to go to prison? Has a man ever been too handsome to go to prison for rape?

Once again, women are treated differently and society sees their crime as different. That is all I am saying. Not all the other shite you glean from my simple statement.

Any case which leads to a female receiving a lesser punishment than a male involving similar charges is a disservice to criminal justice and the American people.

I apologize if my assumptions were incorrect, but you didn't exactly elaborate on your particular stance and therefore it was easy to infer that your reference to double-standards indicated somewhat of a support for the sex-based disparity.
