Post page 1, just reply to the last message. Not going back to hit a button. It’s all one thread.

Eat shite.

I responded to you but I'm actually talking about someone else in this thread.

As it’s set up now it is inconvenient to go back to first page to reply to OP after reviewing some or all of the discussion. I do it at times when last reply is part of an off topic conversation, but especially early in a discussion it’s easier to just reply to last comment to add to general discussion of the OP.

When quotes aren’t used or are selectively quoted in replies reviewing the original comment gives the reply context. Only having last comment reply button convenient on later pages and then used a lot when actually replying to the OP in active threads can muddy that help a little.

Adding a reply to thread/OP button or as I have seen elsewhere a small message input box to reply to thread/OP just below the last post on each page of a thread helps avoid any confusion just using last reply can create at times. After so long it would have to be obvious of it’s intended purpose and right after last post to break old habits.

It’s not a huge problem, but it is a feature I usually see in other discussion boards.

Reply to the post you are responding to. If it’s later in the thread use the quote feature + respond to the same post.

I've been here long enough to remember where there was no indicator to see who responded to your post.

You had to kind of guess if they were directly responding to you or not unless they used the quote feature.

Should responses be addressed to the OP or to the last poster? I reply to the OP because they are the one asking the question.

Just post and respond to whoever gives you the most attention

no matter which way, quote the text in the post so we'll know what triggered you.
