The big question is can you live with taking that source of income away from the people that farm your land just to make a quick buck

That’s another concern. They’ve taken good care of the land and been good for the family. Unfortunately the land is split 5 ways and undivided...

What parish?

I know of something here in Pointe Coupee. Was offered $1500 a year for 30 year contract.

There’s a ny times article about this type of thing that’s a few years old. I recall reading it back in the day.

From what I remember - if they are offering that much per acre you have a few things in your favors: large substation nearby which have several sets of high voltage lines running to it.

Very few farmers approached got that high of a offer due to grid connection runs.

And they can buy another house or rent more land.

Couple miles in Ventress. There are main power lines and substations in the area.

Yea I’m pretty sure I know about where you talking about. That’s real close to being able to tie in. What I’m talking about isn’t quite as close.

If the state handles it like Texas did the consumer gets screwed big time. Solar is A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE than conventional generation. In order for the solar to pay its bonds off they get the state to require the utilities to buy this electricity at higher rates than they can generate it themselves and it gets passed on you you. It's a JBE transfer of wealth to his buddies. Pure scam.

If you live in a state controlled by Democrats trying to force the state into an absurd "100% green by 2030" type initiative then jump on it. There is so much government money being thrown around to prop up the industry and line the pockets of friends and family.

That's your stance on wind turbines?

Agreed, but they have more room.

Good luck with whatever you decide and keep us posted.
