I had found a boxer mix puppy from somebody near me. The puppy was only a week old when we picked him out. Got a message from them yesterday saying that the mothers milk was bad, and that they just had a baby of their own and couldn't keep up with it. The puppy is now 3 weeks old and they want us to go pick it up, said they have been feeding him food mixed with water. I think they are just piece of shite owners who are trying to dump the dogs off. I'm worried of what they do with them if we don't go get the dog immediately.

I guess my question is, what kind of risk would it be taking the dog away from his mother 3 weeks to early? And what kind of care would it need besides taking it to the vet right away?

Is there a dog rescue in your area? These groups are great because they may be able to find a foster home for it.

Pup will need a lot of counseling

ETA: expect it to act out as a teen

Its not me getting rid of the dog. I would be taking it in. Just wondering what kind of potential issues it could face by being taken away from the mother 3 weeks early, health wise.

POS owners.

Growing up, we had to take our puppy at 4 weeks because the mom got hit by a car and couldn’t nurse anymore. Ours didn’t have any issues because of it.

Surely you can buy some kind of dog formula or something from a vet right? Not sure, I’ve never had this problem.

Just a thought

Go to a vet for advice and I'm sure they can tell you what you need to do/get you what you need.

I would guess. Just wasn't sure what to do, or if there would be serious heath risk.

I am trying to find an open vet to call as we speak.

Milk your goat and give it to the pup. Goat’s milk is like the O negative of the milk world.

If you have a goat, that is. You probably don’t have a goat.

Special place in Valhalla for those who take care of animals in need. You are gonna be hanging out with Loki and the top shelf guys.

As long as the mix is mostly boxer, you’ll have yourself a fantastic dog

Also - you should be able to bottle feed the pup. I forgot exactly what type of formula to use, but we had to do this when our golden retriever got sick shortly after birthing her litter

The dog will be fine, just takes some extra work for a few weeks

If you're in BR call Seigen Lane Animal Clinic they are open on Saturdays.

Yep. Called the LA Boxer Rescue, but they never responded to me. Guess they aren't interested in getting their dogs adopted. Looks like this one may be in more need of rescusing anyway.

I'm not. I spoke to someone at an animal hospital. They told me that places sell puppy replacement milk. So I'll just have to bottle feed the puppy for the next week or so.

Google "what can I feed a 4 week old puppy" there are thousand of advise resuots.

Seems its time to transition them to soft food.

But there are several puppy formulas on sale to replace the moms milk when puppies are orphaned.

Thanks.

Going to try to go get the pup from these assholes this afternoon.

First vet visit should be at 4 weeks right?
