Some of my awful friends and my beautiful family (whom I also hate) have made the trip to Gainesville and seeking any advice on where to park and get drunk prior to kick-off. Thanks for any advice.

you can't walk around with open containers there (over age or not) but you're generally okay if you stick close to your tailgate.
haven't been in several years so not so sure about the current hottest tailgate spots.
there are bars within walking distance from the stadium

Dont.
Already here so it's a bit late for that but thanks for the helpful advice.
No walking around with booze? That seems pretty fricking weird. I wanted to do a shot of Jameson off the belly of the Tebow statue.

Just go to Tampa and watch the game at Monsvenus, huge LSU crowd there.

Gainsville is like College Station. They brag about how awesome their tailgate scene is, but it is rather underwhelming. And thats really all I have on Gainsville. Cops being dicks about drinking.

I was gonna give you the same "dont" response. But your quip about shots off tebow statue gave me a chuckle.
Ive only been there once and it was a poor experience. Yes about the open container. I believe there are areas that allow it and other areas that dont and if you dont know the difference you will miss the game because Gainesville PD jail doesnt have SEC Network.

If you pay to park in a lot, make sure you get a pass or paper saying you did or you will get towed. frick Gainesville. Worst campus I traveled to.

Don't
Leave. Seriously. Worst SEC tailgating I've ever been to. Go anywhere else.

Hey-Zeus Christos, y'all are making me question this decision. We gotta little Lucas with us, they're not gonna frick with the young'un are they?

Best spot is to tailgate directly across the street from the "Swamp" bar. All the LSU fans hang out along the sidewalk at the light there.
No parking there.

They have a 24 hr pizza place that will deliver to your tailgate. That's the best thing about it.

This! Just go to one of the bars across the street and watch other games while you eat/drink. The Swamp is really big...room after room after room.

Finally, something positive. Sounds delightful.

Do you not read the news?! Floridians are notorious for crimes against children.
Remember, it's much safer to just shoot first; and shoot to kill. A dead man can't tell his side of the story.
Good luck. God speed.

look, seriously, i've tailgated in tuscaloosa, baton rouge, atlanta, oxford, starksville...etc.
gainsville was the worst traveling experience that i've ever had. i doubt anyone is going to frick with your kids, but i would watch out for irate, floridian trash.
it was absolutely awful. OH YEAH and i paid $50+ for parking all day, and my car was towed at some point during the game.
eta: it was this huge field owned by a church i believe across the street from the campus. don't park there. they will tow you no matter if you paid or not. or they just hate me.

You better hope LSU wins tomorrow. If not you will have the worst time. UF fans are nothing but a POS.

Oh don't worry, we'll be standing the shite out of our ground. But goddamnit I really don't want them to murder this kid, I've gotten a bit attached.
