Tailgate TV Question

You need to extend the antenna out with extra coax cable and splitter and adapter. We have a problem with channel 9 out there we extend the coax a few feet and bingo.
Don't buy any expensive antenna. Just buy a 10 or 12 dollar HD antenna from wal Mart or Best Buy or even the Dollar General( saw one there today). I bought mine from Best Buy. You have to do a channel scan on the tv to pick up all of the channels available.

We also use a satellite but it's based out of Texas to get ESPN and other cable games. It works very well. One of our guys lives in Texas and just pays for an extra box as far as we know. We bought a dish online for like $75 and he pays for the box.

Hot spot I have no experience on this.

I have used a set of rabbit ears from the WallMarks for the last 12 years and get about 10 - 15 channels. Sometimes you have to move it around a bit or set it up on the cab of the truck, but when I scan, it always gets me 10+ channels. I would say 5 or 6 of those are trash, but the rest are the regular networks. I can usually catch 2 football games at a time all day long.

satellite is very nice because you can get ESPN(s) and SECN, but that requires a generator and makes the whole setup/takedown process one hell of a lot more complicated.

I use the Dish Tailgater. Just google or go to dish.com to look it up. Bought it 3 years ago the receiver and satellite for $400. Easy set up. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes to scan go signal and download the program you have. If you have Dish service at your house ( or anyone in tailgate group), it costs an extra $7 a month on your bill for receiver to go with Dish Tailgater. If not, just activate the receiver and it will cost about $75 a month for the months you use the service. I get all local channels plus ESPN channels, SEC and Big 10 network channels. All in HD.

I really appreciate the input. I think I might go dish if it's only a $7 a month upcharge. My line of thinking is to find a buddy with a dish, pay him $100 each year to use the service for the tailgate.

sounds like they have a really shitty antenna... you can get more than that with a paper clip and some tin foil.

Best Buy has some good antennas. Thats where I got mine. I just use it for the 2:30 game or if there is a decent 11:00 game on. It gets 30-35 channels.

I have a roku tv that connects to wifi that we mainly use.

No need to hook up a laptop and run HDMI...


Plus we have a Dish Tailgater now

Just use one of your boxes from home and a satellite dish.
