Sympathy for those ESL cause English hard

There might be some here that can relate to those of us who are ESL. I would like your best examples of the consternation you have experienced in acquiring the Queen's English and her consortium of derivatives.
I will start with "he's"
It can mean he is or he has.
He's hungry or he's got a car
But you can't say he's a car for he has a car because people will think you mean he is a car.

Someone should have told you that in English, it is ok to use contractions while speaking, but not while writing. When speaking and in doubt, do not use contractions. Problem solved.

How many ESL speakers use apostrophes? Usually when ESL speakers say he's they're trying to say his.
