I also want to reiterate for clarity that I've never said this was no big deal. I've said the opposite quite a few times. I think this guy is a hero and commend him. That doesn't mean 100 yards on a stationary or slow-moving, open target is difficult.

Except that nobody said it was a one in a million shot or anything. The accolades were more about ending that situation. That's what I don't get I guess. Your buddy was the first one to say this out of nowhere:

Read an article just recently pertaining to this incident and it said that the BRPD sniper team hasn't had to engage someone since like the 1940's. It stated that they practice once a month of course but haven't been in a live scenario in THAT LONG.

While the shot was "only" 100yds, just taking the above info into account makes it that much more impressive because at the range vs an active shooter situation is light years apart.

Nobody said everyone on the planet could do it without ever having picked up a rifle, either.

No one has said anything to the contrary.

He was one of the first 10 posts in the thread where people were joking about throwing a parade for the guy and how he probably wouldn't want that anyway. Then, out of nowhere, "wasn't a difficult shot TBH."

This makes me wonder if you read the first nine posts.

This thread wouldn't have made it three pages if I hadn't made that post.

Hard to argue that point. You definitely brought a degree of "entertainment" to it.

Carry on.

Here you go.

Real life situation with consequences. One thing to do it at the range into a paper target, quite another to put down a perp at 9:30 on Sunday morning on Airline Hwy.

If BR collectively wants to give these lowlife savages the middle finger, throw this man a parade.

Not some bullshite chamber of commerce parade, a full-on Roman Triumph like the Apollo astronauts got when they returned from the moon.

He probably doesn't want his name publicized so he won't be targeted. Which is a fricking shame.

Quite the marksman. Bravo. This man saved lives. Wished he had a chance earlier.

Hell No

Any idea what type of rifle BR Swat uses?

**EDIT**
Google is my friend

BRPD SWAT ariticle

quote:

frick that. He's a goddamn hero.

He should ride atop a float and we should all line the streets to bear witness and recognize it.

Long's carcass should be dried & salted and used for decoration.

I'm glad he plugged that fool, but that's nowhere near say, Charles Whitman territory.

Any idea when Obama is coming to Baton Rouge to meet with the slain officers family?

Long does not deserve s proper burial.

I work with and treat PTSD soldiers on a daily basis so I'm fully aware of what war does to a human being. I watched my dad deteriorate for years from being a POW in Korea. I truly appreciate everything our military does.
