BATON ROUGE - A woman said she was carjacked by a man armed with a hammer after her shift at a restaurant along Essen Lane on Sunday night. 

The victim, who works at Sushi Masa, said she got into her car around midnight on Sunday. She was inside the vehicle for less than five minutes when a man holding a hammer approached her car. 

She told WBRZ that the man opened the door and ripped her out of the vehicle before taking off. 

According to the victim, the car and her property were recovered on Monday. 

The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating the situation. No additional details about the case or the carjacker have been made available.
