Surviving Auschwitz: A Few People Are Still Around

I recently talked to a Jew who survived Auschwitz (miraculously). She was 17 in 1943 and her whole life has obviously been scarred by that experience.
Watching people shot, gassed, experimented on, etc.
I have the utmost respect for her.

the school at which i work was visited by a survivor of auschwitz ... talked to the student body/faculty about his experiences ... was around 10 at the time he was sent there ... given everything everyone knows, it was still a bit emotional listening to the man speak ...

He probably wasn't being serious, Mr Personality

How did she survive two years in Auschwitz?
I ask this as a student of Primo Levi's writing.

Calling someone a Jew when they are in fact Jewish is not an insult, idiot.

A variety of factors (luck)
obviously she was young, so she wasn't immediately killed
she slept with people who died and "stole" their clothes for warmth
She spoke German, she said anyone who couldn't speak German was killed
She got job sorting clothes of the dead, so they somewhat valued her
She admits, she would have been killed if the war had lasted longer

Personally I would rather be called Jewish rather than "a Jew" but that's probably based on a few idiots when I was in elementary school who used the word in a manner where the tone was both hostile & derogatory towards me. I not going to get upset if someone calls me a Jew or asks if I am a Jew when they say it or ask it in a pleasant manner.

Well if you hadn't killed Jesus maybe people would be nicer to you

There was actually a reddit thread linked here a few days back where a holocaust survivor spent a few hours answering questions....it was fascinating.

Your posting is a joke. Suck another dick and get out of this thread.

I'm so confused about the problem with referring to her as a Jew? What is problem?
What was he supposed to say? I met a Juden?
I'm real sick of the Jewish stuff. Obviously.
That said God bless this lady. I recently read an AMA on Reddit with a survivor of the Camps, and it was amazing. That interview then made me go back and read about some of the other camps I did not know about and I still cannot understand how that shite happened on Earth in the 20th century. Sad and beyond words. For Jews. Romanian Gypsies. Criminals. Gays. Hungarians. And anyone else the Reich deemed undesirable.
