Apparently SnapChat offers no tutorials on how to build a snare trap.
Why the frick would there be a tutorial on SnapChat on how to build a snare trap when there's already so many snare trap apps out there. Duh

Many kids play sports and do scouting. Danny Etling for one.
Unfortunately, scouts were for nerds in my school/social circle growing up. I quit after 4th grade. I also did play sports year round in every season and my parents had 4 kids. I'm sure one less thing was nice for them.

What is the definition of basic survival?
- Shelter
- Water
- Fire
- Food?
I can do 1-3, not sure how good I’d be catching, killing, and cleaning food with equipment like a fire arm, bow, etc. I’d eat a bunch of bugs probably

I saw this in the immediate aftermath of Katrina. People were flipping out about "starving to death" and I just pointed out that they had a pantry full of food.
Those folks wouldn't last long in a true survival situation.

I blame technology and helicopter parents.

A survey would probably also say that most people who were raised in a urban area of a wide variety of ages probably don't have basic survival skills.
I grew up in Metro Atlanta but I was involved in a good boy scout troop that actually taught me shite, a father who raised me to hunt and track, and a general love for the outdoors. I'm not what one would call a survivalist, but there have definitely been times where I have been thankful to know the skills that I know.

Most not in the armed forces lack basic survival skills
The only thing the military taught me was how to keep the other poor dumb bastard from surviving. Food, water, and shelter were provided.

No doubt. A lot of my friends (early to mid 30's crowd) are useless in an outdoor setting. I will rely on modern conveniences to do a lot of stuff because it's just so much easier. However, if needed I can still do stuff the "old way" and I'm always surprised how many people my age just don't have the knowledge of what was always basic knowledge for me.
Wait, does this mean I'm privileged?

exactly. I can start a fire with sticks but its really hard and I always have my survival knife

A bow drill or any kind of friction fire sucks to get going, which is why I always have a flint in my outdoor gear.
My guess would be parenting and society, a mixture of those two. My sister and brother-in-law never made my nephew go outside when he was young. Now that he's a teen, it's impossible to peel him away from his xbox. I tried, but the kid loathes anything that's not electronic and hooked up to the internet.

Well to be fair in a zombie apocalypse, 99% of people (not just milennials) wouldn't survive past a year.
I will.

The only kids I knew who did scouts were huge homos.
The vast majority of astronauts from the Mercury Seven to the present were scouts, it is amazing how many had made Eagle Scout compared to the general population.

Are you really confined to a wheelchair? i see people post this. Im not trying to be an a-hole, but I would think may make survival much more difficult.
