Some of the more reliable models are showing a storm spinning up low in the Bay of Campeche and moving towards SELA.
Can any of our experts offer up what they think?

Is it really a surprise if it's being predicted 4-5 days out?

We've had our eye on that area for a few days now and it didn't really seem to be a big threat. That's starting to change though. Looking like it may be turning NE and heading this way.

I saw the title and was surprised by a TS in October 4 days out

There will be a lot of moisture but the GFS doesn't have it getting organized just yet

Yes, it is a surprise. Usually we are talking about potential impacts 10 days out or more. And with this being mid October it is unusual for our area. Plus, with it being a very weak system if it develops, I don’t think it would get much attention. It could definitely surprise a lot of people and with it being football season I don’t think anyone appreciates a surprise weather event over the weekend.

They’ve been back and forth with it for a week now. I didn’t want to post it and get torn to shreds so I waited for someone else to bring it up

Weak system, should be moving along pretty quickly. Pretty big circulation down there and shouldnt be able to get organized all that well by the weekend.
Looks more of a rainmaker than anything.
