Water is hot enough to support it. (You're welcome for the obvious)

is there a meteorlogical reason that the Pacific has so many more of these ridiculously intense storms than the Atlantic Basin?

It's warmer than the Atlantic and over a larger area. Not much to cause dry air problems since it's ocean for thousands of miles to the east. Shear also isn't as much an issue out in the vast open waters.

The Atlantic basin can be hostile and the areas warm enough for Cat 5s are limited and around land masses.

According to Chappelle's racial draft, the entire Wu Tang Clan is now claimed by the Asian community.

Wutip wind ain't nothin' to frick with.

You see, the Earth is tilted at approximately 23 degrees from celestial North. As it travels around the sun, due to this tilt, varying parts of the Earth get differing amounts of sun. This creates what scientists are beginning to call "seasons" when the climatic conditions change over the course of a year. These "seasons" are reversed in the Northern and Southern hemispheres, meaning that when it is the middle of winter in one hemisphere, it's the middle of summer in the other.

ETA: Man, my jackassery bit me. I didn't notice that it's in the Northern hemisphere because I don't read so good.
