Four Southern University at New Orleans professors who died within three months of each other had all worked on the second floor of the Multipurpose Classroom Building. So Cynthia Ramirez found it ironic that SUNO chose to hold a vigil for the dead on the same floor.

quote:

Between 2008 and 2013, Das, Leary, James and Dumas-Haynes all had offices and taught classes on the second floor of the Multipurpose Building, a two-story concrete structure with eight classrooms, 30 offices, a large lobby and a 1,000-seat auditorium.

Before their deaths, Leary and Dumas-Haynes had experienced severe respiratory problems, according to relatives and medical records. Faculty and staff say at least 10 others on the same floor complained of similar symptoms -- coughing, wheezing, difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, nausea and migraines -- and brought them to the attention of SUNO leadership.

George Bush poisoned the buildings when he blew up the levee.

I didn't mean for this to be about race. It is crazy that SUNO can do such a poor job of "repairing" this building.

If you look at the pics in the link you can see waterlines in the auditorium, a pool full of stagnant green water and just general disrepair.

They did not confirm a real link to the building and the deaths, did they? Besides the people who died over all those years were older than 55, two were in their 70's.

Edit:
quote:

According to the Centers for Disease Control, available evidence does not support a link between mold exposure and pulmonary embolisms, heart disease or breast cancer recurrence -- the official causes of death of the four SUNO professors.

Looks like somebody just wants to get paid.

Just read the article. Sounds as if black mold (the life altering kind) was throughout the building, and the admin was even told so, yet they kept people in the building.

Obviously a conspiracy created by Bobby Jindal to facilitate the shutdown of a learning institution for minorities.
